Wheels for my 71 monte

Right now I'm in the process of installing new a arm bushings, 1 inch lowering springs from hotchkis, new shocks and heidt's tall 2" drop spindles.

I've been running the stock 15x7 wheels and am looking at getting some 20" torq thrust m's in black.

I'm thinking 20x10 in the rear and 20x8.5 in the front.

I know I have room for a 275/35zr20 back there because we already have two and I've stuck them up under there with about an inch of clearance on each side with them tucked way up in the fender. The wheel offset is +35mm.
Do you think they would fit with that offset?

Also, can I get some opinions on this photoshop I made? Keep in mind the front will be a bit lower with the spindles and all.

I sold a set of boyd coddington smoothie wheels to a guy with a monte the fit perfect no rubbing. They were 20 x 8.5 all the way around with 255/35/20 tires.

IMO those wheels are borderline 'DONK'. It is a big car, but 20s would only work in the back (if the car was lowered 2-4"). I would only go with 18s up front tho. Just my opinion.. and thats worth .02 or less.

I would run 18s up front, but I can't find any that are 5x4.75 18s. They are 5x4.5 for a mustang or something.

I think it would probably sit well on 20s with a 3inch drop in the front and 1 inch in the rear from stock that I will have.

All the 20x10's that are in my American Racing book are for a 5x4.5" bolt patterns. And the only 20x8.5 is a 0 offset. I'm thinking if you want this style of wheel, but in offsets closer to what you need, you need to look the Coys wheels. They make them in black now too.

Or, we can build you something custom in our wheel lines that will fit correctly.

go with the 20's. 18's will look small in the front wheel well.

Well I did all of my math, and compared to the stock 255/70-15, the 275/35-20 that we have are around an inch shorter, and the overall section width is only .8 inches larger. Our tires are perfect for 20x10. The wheels should be a near perfect fit, and some 245/35-20 compared to the 235/60-15 in the front is just a bit taller and a hair wider. 0 offset should be good compared to the stock 15x7 rallys.

I'll get these after I get my 65' vw dune buggy sold for 1500...

Annnnd they have the 20x10 in 4x4.75 in jegs and summit.

You want to keep your overall height on the front around 26" or less, and 27" overall height in the rear. You can probably easy carry a 295 in the rear and a 255 up front. I would condsider staggering the rims 20 rear and 19 or 18" front. Just make sure however smaller your front wheel diameter is then your rear, your tire diameter needs to be equally less. In other words, if you run 27" tires on the rear with 20" rim, and you run 18" rims on the front, your front tire needs to be 25" or less to avoid looking taller then the rear tire.

For the rear wheels deduct 4" off your overall rim width for the right backspace. For the front wheels deduct 3 1/4" off the overall rim width. So if you have 10" rear, you need a 6" back space. If you have a 8.5 front, you need a 5.25 backspace.

That's interesting, I wonder why they wouldn't list it in their own 2008 catalog then. Hmm.... Good luck with it man, that 20x8.5 with a 0 offset is only a 4.75" backspace, and I would at least go with a 5.25". That's based on building wheels for these cars, but if you are comfortable with the 4.75" fitment, that is up to you.

Off topic some but.... wouldn't a 8.5" wide wheel with 0 offset come out to be a 4.25" backspace?
