      Floor Prep Before Second Skin?

I'll be putting down Second Skin Damplifier soon, and I'd like to help protect the floors from any future rust potential. I was going to use POR-15, but that can only be applied to bare metal & rust. My floors are solid, and have paint on them... Should I consider any other type of paint/protection first before I put the Damplifier down?

      Thanks,
      Nick

If its just paint/factory primer I would just scuff with some 400 grit. The primer is real thin here so you'll probably go through in alot of spots. Hit again with some epoxy primer and after it dries put down the second skin.
Have you considered the homemade stuff or are you stuck on buying namebrand? Lizard skin uses latex as its substrate. Not sure about second skin. These don't protect metal very well, hence the extra primer I recommend.

I used the ppg epoxy primer mixed with the glass spheres and rolled it on. I put down two quarts of each (4 quarts total) on my floorboards.
This method is guaranteed NOT to rust.

I'm planning on cleaning off the factory primer and doing my floors in Por-15 before Second skin.

No need to sand the floor for Damplifier or Spectrum.
Just make sure you are applying them to a decently cealn surface and you will be fine!
