There is a hole in the pan that doesnt have a hole in the block? Did you guys drill and tap the block?
Did you have any issue with the pan leaking if you didnt tap it??
Thanks

yes you must drill & tap the block. It will most likely leak if you don't.

Skeeter, there's a user here by the name of DCx that knows the answers to your questions. Do a "search" for him here and send him an e-mail on it. I used to know but have now forgotten. Damn memory.

any pics or description of where the hole is? i didnt even know it was an issue. i havent installed my pan yet, but i would have been screwed.
anybody use this pan with a mcleod bellhousing? i know that most bellhousing plates require clearance, but i didnt know if that had been addressed with this pan.

I just bolted mine on and started beating on the car. LOL The hole if memory serves me correct will not leak, the gasket will seal it. I may have put some sealant on it, but honestly do not remember. I do know I did not drill and tap.

10mm tap and bolt from Orchard supply. Did mine with the pan installed.

A picture of the area to be tapped would be cool.
Also, what windage tray are you guys using with this pan?

You cant miss it. You will see where the block has a part that sticks out farther and a spot on the oilpan that you cant get a bolt into the block.

To clarify, there is a hole in the oil pan rail that you cannot insert a bolt because it is not drilled an tapped in the block?
I have this pan but I want to make sure its ok before I fire it.
Every hole in the pan has a bolt in it. I have a genIV iron block.

Ok, why would anyone want to add a bolt that the factory did not use? As long as you have a bolt in all the holes supplied by GM then your good to go.

I think I found my leak.
I never tightened the oil filter when I put the cam in and new the new pan..
Oh well my bad..

I think the reason is that the Autokraft pan flange is thinner and flexes more than the factory pan.

Yeah mine were too long but I just used shorter bolts with 1 washer each instead if a stack of washers.
I thought it looked ghetto.
