So at first I was thinking the heat barrier first would be better since it would protect the noise barrier from heat and more likely to keep it from penetrating the cabin.
However the noise barrier stuff not only acts as a noise insulator, but I've heard attaching it to the floor stiffens the structure to elminate attenuation.
Which way is best?

I don't think the noise barrier stiffens the metal, I think it is supposed to absorb the vibrations. If the heat barrier material provides "cushion" then the noise barrier won't work properly.
What products are you using?
Can you install the heat barrier outside?

Actually I haven't decided on the exact brands yet. I'm still researching. I hear Dynamat is a bit expensive, so I want to check other brands.

Definitely sound deadener first. I would take the advice of the manufacture that you choose. I used second skin sound deadener and heat jute and satisfied. Cockpit stays nice and cool.

Depends on where you are applying it, the product used and what your budget is... I would highly recommend you call Ant at Second Skin (site sponsor) and discuss what you are trying to accomplish.
