      Plastic Grill and dash fix

      Hey guys,
Need to fix a few broken tabs on my 69 camaro grill and console any ideas on what kind of glue or epoxy to use? Also need to fix a mount on my 93 camaro bucket seat side panel. This is a different type of plastic. Any help much appreciated.

Depends on the plastic and how it is broken. Ever heard of plastic welding? Fancy name for melting it back together. Works good on some instances, would never work on others. Basically you use a hot knife or other tool that might fit the application, melt- weld,'pulling' it back together.

A good brand of superglue will usually do it if it is a clean break. If it is in pieces it's tough.

Somtimes just riveting a piece of steel to it will work to brace it.

It really depends on wich tab is broken and where also. A pic would really help.

At times the plastic is so old that the only thing that really works is a new grill. I know it not what you wanted to hear but it is the truth.

I used a product called PLASTIX.Its a powder that put in place and then use an aplicator to apply a liquid to activate it.I used it when I was making my gauge panel and it worked great.

if it's abs plastic you could take some abs shavings and put them in a cup with some acetone. it'll turn into a goop, then paint the good onto your parts. when the acetone evaporates it'll leave the hard plastic again. guys having been doing this to make factory looking carputers for a while now.
