I've pretty much decided on my front brakes. (C5 stuff w/ Kore3 billet hubs)

Now the rear brakes are what I am trying to plan out.

I want to make sure I have a parking brake and I don't really like the idea of using 2 left hand calipers.. I now it doesn't really hurt anything, I just have this symmetry thing and it will bug me. I've also thought about using a pinion mounted parking brake if there is such a thing or if there is enough clearance.

So

between LS1 rear brakes and C5 brakes what would you guys choose? What has to be done to use a RH and LH caliper?

I just picked up some 17" ROH rollers and plan on using 17" VWW V48s in the end so I need the brakes to clear them too.

The staggered shocks are what screw things up for you. Unless you relocate your shocks to the inside of the spring, you're s.o.l. I don't know of any systems, really, that clear the staggered shocks.

I saw one post which I can't find now where some guy reversed the directions of the parking brake cables, Is that the problem with the LS1 setup or is it something else that hits the shocks? How exactly does using 2 left handed ones make it work out?

Two left hand calipers. Drivers side is in front of the axle, passenger side in the rear. Based on how it has to be mounted with the bleeder screw pointing up is how it works.

I am not posative but I thought I read that the c6 rear calipers can be used with a left and a right because the crossover tube fittings are the same on both sides. where the c5 has different threads so they cant be changed from side to side. dont know if I am explaining this very well.

So you mean what calipers can you take the RH one and flip it over and bascially make a LH one?

You can convert the C6 Z06 6-piston front and 4-piston rear calipers by swapping the cross-over tube and the bleeder screws, but all of the 2-piston and 1-piston C5/C6 calipers are machined to be either left or right hand only and cannot be converted.

Best solution is to inboard your shocks and then run either the LS1 or C5/C6 setups with LH/RH calipers. If you're thinking about mini-tubbing your car for larger rear tires, you'll probably want to consider inboarding your shocks anyway.

Relocate the backing plates..... found this info.

Not sure if it matters, but those are LT1 rear brakes

I know :drive: but it should be possible with the LS1 brakes also...

Give Tobin (Kore3) or Phil (BRP) a call. They can hook you up. Also look at http://www.engineeredvelocity.com/

I used the lt1's and made my own brackets to bolt to the axle and clocked them so I had the most clearance for the shock and parking brake cable. If I where to do it again I would use the ls1 style because you get rid of the bulky parking brake stuff that hangs of the back of the caliper on the lt1's.I can take some pic of mine if you need me to.

I have 2006 Corvette Zr1 Front Brakes(13.5 in Rotors) and SSBC Rear Disc Brakes(11in rotors), I already test fitted everything and it works great..

I went with 98-04 Blazer rear disc. It is basically the same caliper as a C5 with an 11.6" rotor (that will just clear a 15" in case you want to do some drag racing with slicks). The pads are actually bigger as well. They also have the correct ebrake setup to clear the staggered shocks. Use a 2WD backing plate on the pass and 4WD on the drivers.

Unless you relocate your shocks you will have the symmetry problem because the caliper will interfere on one side or the other. And think of it this way, you're never on more than one side of the car at a time!

This is not true at all Allen.............Wilwood, has a setup specifically designed for the staggered shock setup on my '73 Camaro, with parking brake hats as well. You do not have to move the shocks inboard to cure this problem. Call Frank @ Prodigy, he can set you up with the right stuff. Just make sure that you specifiy it is for a staggered shock setup, that is very important.

I can post pics, if need be

Nice stuff. Did you get the complete setup (F,R, booster, lines, etc)??? What did they run you, ~ $2K?

I got front, rear, and tandem master cylinder (manual) for about $1600. I got stainless lines through Inline Tube.

Allen....I don't have passenger side with wheel off.....I can snap one from the inside, over the weekend ???
