Alright I know this topic has probally been brought up a done and I've read almost every thread I can on here about them.
Now this car is going to be 80% daily driver and 20% autocross ....
How much is the weight difference on the steelies going to hurt me?
Right now my car should have about 450hp at the crank....currently have 15" centerlines with 60 series balloon tires =/.
Wanting to swap out the leaf springs for some performance ones and get some 17" tires to help with the handling....
I've heard at over 40 lbs a rim on all 4 corners of the car that these might not be the best choice?

i'd guess 40+... mine were heavy... like heavy heavy..
though... i felt an huge difference right away... even though they are twice the weight of the last ones..

Was it good or bad difference?

You better have some huge disc brakes on that thing if you're going to be autocrossing with 40lb wheels.

i just ran a track day with 17" soft 8 steelies...
it was enough to be pleeenty of fun, but the brakes didnt really cool off enough (during or) between runs.

you want your rotational components as light as possible. Any increase in weight causes a greater resistance to acceleration.
More accurately, you want a lower moment of inertia. If you do increase weight, you want it as close to the rotational center line as possible.

I could definitely feel the weight difference going from steel 15" to steel 17". Bad difference.

They look like the (deep lip) "Bullet" wheels from Custom Wheels Market, or sumthin' similar. They frequent eBay, and I believe they are only available in 17" and 20". If I remember correctly they have VERY few options in backspacing.

Yup, they're from custom wheels market. http://customwheelsmarket.com/
im pretty sure they're only in 17" sizes, at least for chevy bolt pattern. they come in 17x7, 17x8 and 17x9, all 0 offset. I got the 17" tires already, otherwise I would buy the BMW M Parallel wheels
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif
they come in 18x8 with 13mm(~5 1/8") offset and 18x9.5 with 25mm(~6 1/4") offset. if you need you can use a small spacer to prevent rubbing in front, but probably need an adapter for the rears. Also use a hubcentric ring with the inner bore being 70.3mm for the camaro. The wheels come in two different bore sizes for different BMWs, but they're both bigger than 70.3mm ( i think around ~72mm and ~74mm). The rear 18x9.5 are hella cheap, you can get them for $135 a piece at discount tire! thing is they dont sell the front 18x8 so you'd have to get those elsewhere. Unless you wanna try fitting a 9.5" wheel up front:Alchy:

BTW did you want the steelies cuz of the look or the price? cuz 18" tires are more expensive than 17"...one of the other reasons I went with the 17"s. You dont wanna cheap out on tires if you're making 450hp IMHO

Doesn't Wheel Vintiques offer a Billet replica of steel rallye? Anyone know the weight on those? Could they be an option for you?
