Just this past spring I installed a new set of Billet Specialties on my pro street 68 camaro. The car is tubbed but not like the big 33" tubs. More like a mini tub I guess. The car came with 29" MT Sportsman that rode like crap. So I went out and purchased the new Street Lite from BS. I installed 15x10's on the back with 6.5" backspacing and they fit really well with the 325/50 MT ET Streets. The tires are suppose to measure 28"x13.5" on a 10" rim. I have them aired down some for the track but they seem to measure 27.5" tall.
My question is: I want to see about putting a 17" or 18" rim package on the car, but I feel I still need a fairly tall tire to keep the stance right and not loose any more ground clearance. I see Nitto has a 305/40 or 45 tire that measures 28.75" tall for an 18" rim. I took off 29's so these are still smaller then what came of the car. Does anybody have this size tire that is mounted so they can do an actual measurement from the ground up to the wheel well or maybe from the ground to the center of the rim?
Here is a pic of my current setup if I can get it to work. Any suggestions on keeping a taller tire but going with a bigger rim would be great. I really like the Nitto since I frequent the drags some.
Thanks, Erik
