17" or 18" wheels - Whats everyone like?

I'm wanting to put 18" wheel on my 69 Camaro. I know 18's will make the car appear and probably will be a lil higher than it would be on 17's. Just the usual lowering job on the car, about 2-3 inches front/rear. So, what's everyone like, appearance wise? 17" wheels/tires and the car looks low or the bigger 18" wheels/tires and just a lil more distance between rocker panel and ground? Car is just a driver around town on nice days. Not road racing or corner carving anytime soon.

18''s for sure, I just bought some 18''s for my 67 and I really think they look good. I thought that they might be to big but now that I have seem them they really do look right for the car.

A larger wheel size doesn't necessarily mean a larger diameter tire depending on the profile series rubber you put on it. That said, I like 17's, 18's and 18/19 supercar staggers the best, but it all comes down to the package as a whole.
      It's what I does.

I like 17's better due mostly to the increased sidewall and availability of tires

I think it's a matter of personal opinion. Study a lot of pictures and pick what you like. It's what makes everyone's car unique.

I agree. What do you like the best?
      I'll vote for 18s though.

Well, looks like it's 18's for me as I just bought a set of CCW classics with the black centers. I wanted 18's so I'm happy. Thanks for everyone's input and appreciate the time, especially Dustin for almost hooking me up with a set of Intro ID313's. That's the wheel I wanted, but the CCW's had a price I couldn't resist and I don't have to have 2 sets of wheels now, one for street and one for strip.

This thread has me wondering if this site has a rim gallery organized by rim sizes 17's,18's,etc. with pics of the rims on different cars from this site?? Am new here so am not sure if something like this is already here?

18s, or a 18/19 combo. As said above, its a matter of opinion, and just because you go to a larger diameter wheel, does not mean you ride height will be increased. Its all a matter of Overall Diameter (O.D.) with tire.

      I'll say 17's...that's what I am planning on my 2nd gen. 17" VWW V48's.

Depends on the car. Pony cars look better with 17's, Chevelles & Torninos with 18's. Big suckers like Impalas & Fairlanes look good with an 18 or 18/20.

I personally think 17"s look better on a 69 Camaro.

I'm staying with 17's as well. 255/45 in back and 235/45 in front. It works best for me using my car as a daily driver and occassional autocrosser.

Well, got my CCW 18" Classics in on Monday and now the car is in the process of minitubbing. 18X11 with a 305/35 Nitto and 18X8.5 with a 245/40 up front. Nailed backspacing so not going to need to move my leaf springs at all as they clear them . With the new 3" lowering springs on, car is lookin good. I like the 18" look although my buddy's 17's I was borrowing, were growing on me.
