Hi guys first post here, I am trying to fiqure my back space on the rear my 68 camaro and not shure how much room I should try to get for a minunum amount between the tire and inside wheel well? How much will the rear end move or how much will the tire chamber in on one side bumbs like going into drive ways? Is 1/4, 1/2, or 3/4 inch enough?:naughty:

What diameter wheel are you planning? I know a 5 1/2" backspace will work on the rear with a 17" wheel on a stock 68 Camaro with no mods. Just don't go crazy with your tire diameter, I think 275 is as wide as you can go without hitting the lip of the quarter.

I would give 1/2 inch clearance with stock suspension.

Thanks 1Off I have been looking around the a few sites for this information and it seams you are right on with a 1/2 inch. Rug Rat I am going to use 275/45-17 tire and my rear end is a 8.5 inch from a second gen, which is 1" wider than stock and it has LS1 brakes which moves the wheel out a lttle also. The drivers side is also closer to the inner wall than the passenger side is by 1/4", so I think I will have to use a spacer on the drivers side to get the same clearance as the pass.

Riley make sure you measure...I was tempted to go with the 275/40/17 but after measuring with a Wheelrite and taking tons of measurements off of different tires..i was only going to have 1/8 clearance on the inner wheelwell..I went with 255/45/17 and have a good 1/2 clearance..i know many people have the combo stated, but many also speak of rubbing....better safe than sorry!
