I just got a driver's seat from a '97 M3 to put in my '66 GTO and in the moment of truth I learned that its brackets are much more widely spaced than my originals. It ain't gonna fitsky in stock form. I need to go from the approximately 17-5/8" down to about 13.5" width-wise. What that means is modifying the original BMW seat frame and bracketry by means of sectioning and re-welding, while trying to retain all the mechanical control features. Has anyone tried something like this with a BMW seat or any other for that matter?
For the record, modifying my floorpan is not an option. I ain't gonna cut up my fine Pontiac sheetmetal for no stinkin' EURO car...
I will document the process with photos and written commentary when I begin it.
