View Full Version : 17" wheels on malibu wagon

Looking for advice on what backspace needed for 17"wheels on a 78 malibu wagon.The car has 2"dropped spindles and s-10 moog springs.The rear has 1 1/2 dropped springs,no frame notch or rolled wheelwell.Idont want to have any rub issues.Also what is agood tire size to run?Thanks for any and all advice.

17x8s with 4" backspacing should be fine at all four corners. I run that on my Monte SS with no issues, and my buddy with a '78 Malibu coupe has the same dimension on his car with no troubles. If you want to go bigger in the rear, definitely measure first!

I would run a 17x8 on the front (4.5 inch backspacing) and 17x9 or 9.5 on the rear with 4.75 inch backspacing.

i run 17x8's on all four corners with 4.5 B.S. on my 80 wagon with a 2" drop front and rear
