What Rear Shocks to Use with BRP Shock Relocation

I am looking to purchase the BRP weld in shock relocation kit to use on my '68 camaro. The car currently has a DSE mini-tub, 3" drop leafs, and off-set shackles but the DSE upper shock crossmember and mounts were not installed . . . long story. I think the BRP kit will be the most cost effective approach to solving my upper shock mount issue and keep me from cutting up the trunk. What shocks will work with this setup? Can I use the Koni mini-tub shocks from DSE? A model number would be nice. Phil, need your help please.

I used The competition engineering weld in shock mount. I did have to cut my trunk though. About a 3x5 section i cut for each shock to protrude through as well as the top of the mount. I used traction bars to mount my shocks inward, no offset shackles or anything, and i used summits 3 ajustable shocks. From what i understand you can use the factoy shocks. I cut away my entire wheel well along the frame and made new ones as an at home mini-tub.

Here is some pics of the kit on a first gen its similar the second like you have just a different length in the shock bar. I have both a weld in and a bolt in version of the shock bar as well

The mounting plates are cad coated and is a solid piece of steel that has been bent to specs for the strongest mount possible. Just Bolt on the new BRP shock plate just like the stock unit except it has the new mounting location for the lower shock mount and mounting tab for the 4th gen -98-02 E brake cable.

For the shocks use

11in retracted & 18in extended with a ½ in variance

We recommend the QA1 shocks part number 122-sts1578PXS. However any shock you choose this length will work as long as it’s the stated length

This gets you room more tires and disc brake calipers as well as reducing wheel hop
