      Who's running Wilwoods in the back?

      I've put a set of Wilwoods all around on this 66 Chevelle but with the Moser 12-bolt rear, I don't like how the rotors are not hubcentric to either the studs or the axles themselves. I've already pulled the axles and drilled them for larger 1/2" studs but I was wondering if anybody has had issues. The axle centers are too small for the rotor to center on and the studs are too skinny-I figured this should help-hate to have to tighten the wheels just right to make sure everything is centered-and I'm not a fan of adapters-this just surprised me-I would have thought the fit would be better. :{

      You need to enlarge the opening a little at a time until the fits over the axle of turn down you axle flanges.

      That's just the thing-the hub diameter of the axles are too small to begin with-basically, you slide the rotor on and it moves all over the place. I can only think to swap to a larger diameter wheel stud to correct the centering issue. Just wondering if anybody else had this issue. The Moser 12-bolt comes with the Wilwood brakes as a kit for a 4-wheel conversion-but it's odd how the rotors fit loose on the axles/studs.

      There are several things you can do to solve the problem, but I would probably machine a press-on sleeve to increase the OD of the axle pilot register dimension, thus making the rotors hub centric. You may be able to find a slip-on type of hub-centric ring as a lot of the import guys run them on their wheels...but I've found it difficult to find some of the more common domestic sizes the last time I looked.

      SSBC uses lug-centric rings around the studs in some of their kits. Certainly not an optimal solution, but better than what you have going now IMO.

      I had the exact opposite problem (it's a Ford vs Chevy difference, IIRC). Brian Schein took my axles and turned the register down. Easy for me, but you need to add metal. I'd contact Wilwood and see if they can exchange your rotors. If that doesn't pan out, I'd ask Moser... perhaps they can provide new axles at a discount in exchange for your old ones?

      mine (and probably 90% of their customers app.) index on 1/2 " wheel studs. 3 yrs. now and no problems

      My Moser is a 9" Ford in my 62 Impala. The Wilwood rotors fit tight on the axle hub but I have 7/16 studs. I am putting Wilwood hubs on the front with 1/2" studs, so I will probably change the rear to 1/2" as well.

      On my 10 bolt bop rear that I had to make fit, I had a press on sleeve made to locate the rotor in the center.

      My rear setup stunk as well until I upgraded axles from Factory to Moser with 1/2" studs. No problem with the larger studs. The front hubs use 1/2" studs so I decided to match them all around anyways. Once I can finally afford the AFX conversion I will be getting them with 1/2" studs as well.

      add! I can't believe that Moser would sell rotor hats that don't fit their axle I have Wilwood set up on my 9" with 1/2" studs, and we use Strange axles I do have to use a lugcentric wheel to locate the wheel but that is not an issue

      I ordered Moser axles to use with my TA rear disc setup. The pilot barely sticks out of the rotor. I called Moser as most of the factory wheels also locate on it. Moser They said all wheels should be lug centric. I don't think Moser has a handle on locating wheels/hubs.

      Now pondering using a Wilwood on the rear instead of the ratchet TA caliper. The Wilwood metrics are not tight on the bolt as they use no outer O rings like factories and have too much free play even using their boilts(all theirs do is have a thick head and not use a sleeve in the inner O ring.-Drag car.

      those calipers without O-rings rattle so bad it sounds like the wheels are falling off

      Yea I thought about reaming the hole out a little and pressing in a brass tube that is tighter on the bolt but figure I'll either use my new rebuilt TA calipers or toss the whole system for a Wilwood rear, that is until I started reading this! And I already drilled some new rotors for the 1/2 studs.

      Tom's Differential has some axles that have longer pilots for road race cars that use them to center the wheels.

      Not to hijack but this is my worst nightmare being overseas. I got a complete 12 bolt built by Moser with C-clip eliminators, big Ford ends, Moser axles with 7/16 studs a couple of years ago. I contacted 5 different companies for a Wilwood rear disc set and got 5 different part# for this kit (staggered shock kit, Ford kit, 12 bolt kit and so on). Totally lost here...

      Drilled out the axels and ran 1/2 studs...no problems at all.
