Alright...we all just recieved this Lotus Notes at work today. I have an oppurtunity to let one person use my GM discount until July 31st. Here's the e-mail that we got.......
---------------------------------------------------------
Dear Anthony:
Starting today and through July 31, all active GM employees in the U.S. have the opportunity to provide one employee discount to anyone you know who is considering the purchase of a new vehicle. During this challenging period for people across the country, there’s no better time than to talk up our great products and give someone you know an additional incentive to buy GM.
Remember the offer ends on July 31st. So, get out there today and extend this offer to help a friend, neighbor or extended family member with their next vehicle purchase.
I’m counting on your help in giving us a strong close on our July vehicle sales.
Thanks for your support.

Really take a look at the Vibe. A guy at work just got rid of his Jeep and and got one because it was very economical and it has more than enough room for the 3 kid family he has. After 3 months he is very glad he went went smaller and found a car with all the room he needs.

Yes..this is an ACTUAL employee discount unlike what they did a few years back where they said it was and it ended up being somewhat less. You will get an actual authorization code and when you go the dealer you will get the GMS price. It's on the sticker. Not sure percentage-wise how good of discount this is but it's absolutely the cheapest way to get a new GM vehicle. I should probably emphasize to only reply by PM if you are seriously getting a new vehicle by the 31st. I would hate to see this oppurtunity go to waste. Thanks guys. And yeah....I thought of my "peeps" first. LOL!!!

Also check out the HHR/SS and take it for a drive. I get a combined 26mpg and it easily gets 30 on the hwy. They're a great value and you might be suprised at how nice the ride is, I still love ours 16,xxx miles later.

If it is like it used to be you could get a fully optioned vehicle for about the base sticker price.

Also keep in mind that the GMS price is good with any current offers out there now. I believe Chevy has $1500 Cash Allowance going on. So that's another $1500 off the GMS price. That can get you into a HHR SS or a Cobalt SS for around $15K. And they both get over 30mpg highway. Not bad.

Wow, Tony, that is a very generous offer. You should offer to a non-GM person to convert them over.

Sorry, but the Vibe is ugly, IMO. :barf: There ain't no way to hide ugly.
The HHR SS would be a nice ride, but... 4wd is a really nice thing to have in my neck of the woods during winter. Is it too much to ask for an AWD HHR? :attn:
Plus, even with gas prices being what they are, bigger is better for me. I'm 6'6".
I'll talk to the wife tonight - I don't want to go taking such a generous offer and not use the code. That would just be a waste.

Vibes are so ugly now, even a photo ticket machine will look the other way :naughty: you go almost unoticed.
Talked to a guy who has an HHR a couple of weeks ago and he really likes it. He uses it for business, so he loads it up and he is a big guy and he gets as good of mpg as the Vibe. They do get noticed and he says it handles fairly well too.
It will be nice to hear about what the person gets with this great offer. I bet a base truck would be 13k or so with some other offer?
Goodluck to one of ya

I want an HHR SS but they're kinda pricey here. They also don't seem to keep any with the Brembo/LSD option on the lots.

Not the reason that I am a Chevy guy, but....my dad was a GM employee (now retired) and I have always had the employee discount privilage. It is great and saves you alot of money, plus you get to skip all the dealership BS and deal directly with the finance mngr.

Are you kidding me! An HHR SS for around 15k! I was looking at those recently since my current truck is starting to fall apart. I so need to find and drive one quick! Is there a way to find out for sure what one might run?

This is the eqivelent of at least 2 yrs of depreciation or more. You guys can't go wrong. If I could swing it I would have the code right now and would be searching the lots online for the make model and options I wanted and never look back.
You've been told the generosity of the deal, now go get it!!

I've actually made an error. That price was for the base model HHR. Oops. MSRP for HHR SS is actually around $23k but their offering $2250 cash back and coupled with the my discount should bring you around $18750. That's still not bad.

07-26-2008, 03:26 PM
We just went and drove the LT which is in between the LS and the SS. For 21k before all discounts it wasn't bad. Tomorrow morning we have to go for a bit of a drive to find the closest SS and we will drive that and the bottom level LS and make a decision. The dealer told us you have to run premium gas in the SS and that would be a deal breaker. I will read up a bit in the morning. Nick, do you have an SS and can you run the low grade gas in it?
Blown353
07-26-2008, 03:57 PM
The dealer told us you have to run premium gas in the SS and that would be a deal breaker.
Larry, have you done the math? At 12K miles a year, assuming both vehicles get 25mpg average, the cost difference between 87 octane and 91 octane (at about 25 cents a gallon more for 91) is $120 more yearly or a nearly insignifant $10 a month.
I would not let the requirement for premium be the dealbreaker; the reality is the cost difference isn't that much. Even if you drove 30K miles a year at 25mpg average you're looking at $300 more yearly or an extra $25 a month for 91 octane.
Get the SS. :drive1:

I have an SS, and it can move. Makes me want t turbo on my Camaro really bad! The ECM can tune for the low grade, but performance will suffer slightly. The minimal delta between gas grades versus near identical mileage between the LT and SS but the increased hp and tq is worth the difference to me. Think about it, I get over 25 mpg avg in mixed driving. The $.20 difference in cost between 87 and 91 means it casts less than $0.01 per mile for the SS. Also, the 2.4 is (standard in the LT) recommended 89+. Also can run on 87 and still suffers slightly for it. Check out http://www.ChevyHHR.net, this is widely discussed there and is a wealth of knowledge for all thngs HHR. A couple of us here are members there also.
Also, the performance difference in terms of handling is insane. As I said before, ask Carl, Mike, Steve or the other Crest guys how well this thing can negotiate a corner and keep pace. Seriously, after the test drive, when you can't wipe the surprised yey happy look off your face, you know you need to buy it!
Larry Callahan
07-27-2008, 12:25 PM
Well, we went and drove the HHR SS and it's a really cool ride. After much thought and crunching numbers it's just not the right thing for me to do at the moment. With concerns about both of our jobs and the money going to MotiV8r I told Tony I have to pass on the discount.
So, it's available once again. If you are reading this it's a REALLY good deal and if you can use it you should.
Thanks again Tony for the offer and I REALLY hope one of you can use it.

Well, I used Tony's discount code. Many thanks again to Tony who was great talking to and even better for putting this out there for one of us to use. I bought a new Saturn Outlook per the wife's desire to be a little bigger than the Equinox. Not that we didn't think the Equinox was a great car or unsafe in it's own right, but we wanted bigger anyway. So here are some pics of the new car, helped out by the generosity of Tony:

Nick, many thanks to you and your wife for putting it to good use. I would have felt bad if the oppurtunity ran it's course and no one took me up on it. You will love the Outlook, they are so great to drive, better than an SUV in my opinion. Good power, comfortable ride, and extemely nimble for a vehicle it's size. My wife and I have had one for over a year now and we're still enamored with it. A beautiful design with fantastic fit and finish. We haven't had a single problem with it.
Thanks again for your patronage Nick and good luck with the Outlook.

Nice choice with the Outlook! I've wanted one since they came out, and am very happy with my VUE, which is the same size (car really) as the Equinox. Been very reliable, only a few minor problems here and there that were fixed under warranty. I've been out of warranty now for about 12k mi and have not had to fix anything, other than the brakes, though I do plan to have the front end looked at one of these days because of a creaking noise it has.
