New 68 Cougar - Need Brake Upgrades
We have a factory 68 Cougar that we'd like to upgrade the brakes on. Right now its a manual setup with 4 wheel drum.

We want to switch to power and front discs. I can see replacing the master/booster, but where else would we need to go with the setup? Any decent sources for the parts?

06-26-2008 #2If you're looking for a kit from an aftermarket supplier, Stainless Steel Brakes could hook you up.
If you want to piece it together using parts from another Ford application, the 75 - 80 Granada / Monarch is a popular donour car. Write-up here:

I have these on my 68 Cougar, we kept as manual though.
For larger stuff, a few guys have kits for putting on later Mustang brakes, here's one source:

The Cobra brakes will need 17" wheels to clear generally.
