Hey guys this is my first post and i thought i'd introduce myself and ask a couple of questions. First of all the names connor i"m a freshman in high school and me and my dad recently got a 69 camaro to restore for me to drive. So ive seen several first gens that have had their dash's and consoles swapped for ones in newer cars (mostly fourth gens) and i was wondering what went in to doing this? Also what would go into swapping the seats for some out of a newer car?
thanks,
Connor

Well I can chime in a bit here. Dash swap looks great. I remember camaroboys and he said the trick is to put the console in first them pitch the dash to meet with it. You can make up the difference by cutting back the dash piece that goes between the top of the dash and the windshield. Attaching it is just a matter of welding in some slotted L braces up and down. It can be fit very well if you take your time. The front seats also look great but I will tell you that the stock rear seats look the best over the 4th gen rear seats. Just reupholster them to match the fronts and no one will even notice.I saw pics before of a company that retro fitted the door panels from a 4th gen to a first gen but it was tricky due to the fact that the doors are COMPLETELY different in every which way. Now that I am back into the camaro swing again I will be doing this swap. I still have all of the pieces stored away and ready to do the swap. Anyways if I can dig up pics of stuff I compiled I will post them here..

4th gen dashes are bolt in. I installed mine by welding in 4 studs across the top of the firewall below the windshield and a single L shaped bracket on each kick panel to bolt in the bottom of the dash. The 4th gen dash has tabs that hang on the studs. 4 nuts and lock washers attach it across the top and I threaded the brackets on the bottom for stainless cap screws. Can remove the entire dash in minutes.

I know someone that just installed a Grand Am dash in a 68 Camaro. He had to add 4 inches to the width to make it fit, but after smoothing and painting body color it looks GREAT!
