I'm looking for opinions on wheel adaptors (not spacers). If they are safe / don't cause any vibrations or issues with changing the load on the suspension etc.

Example:
http://www.skulte.com/product_info.php/products_id/58

This would be 90% a street car (with occasional track use). The suspension / brakes are completely redone: GW uppers/lowers/coilovers/c5 brakes with AFX spindles, g-bar/mini-tub/12" discs in the rear and because of that I don't want to have to worry about breaking something either when I drive it hard (which I know I will do).

The reason I would need to run wheel adaptors in the first place is, I want to run the Wheel Vintiques Billet Rallyes (series 90) on my front C5 brakes from Touring classics. I know they won't clear. I haven't measured yet but I probably need a 3/4" to 1" adaptor to clear the caliper / brackets.

This would be the look I am going for (not my car 'shopped):

I am kind of going for that sleeper look and really just want to run the rallyes, I have looked at so many wheels that will fit the C5 brakes, but I still just want/love those rallyes :)

Thanks in advance!

I run big spacers, have not had an issue yet.
O but do your self a BIG favor. Dont use the studs they provide. THEY SPIN in the spacers. I had it happen on both of my front spacers. Ended up putting in bigger and longer studs in the hub, and then just using the spacer w/o studs.

Man, that would suck - how would you get them off?

My only $0.02 is to hand retorque them every 100 miles or so for the first 500 miles - just like aluminum rims.

They luckily spun when the lug was about half way off the stud. I taped off the entire wheel and went after them with a cut off wheel. It was ugly and I was pissed.

I agree as long as you helped the original person then a little banter doesn't hurt :)

I just got some adapters from Skulte. They're definitely quality pieces. I've got 1.25" for the front and 3/8" for the back, though I don't know if I'm going to use the rear ones. I could post some pics if you want, even though they look like the ones on Skulte's site.

I have 1" adapters from Skulte.

They've been on a daily driver since 2003 w/o any problems. The minimum thickness I would recommend is the 1" adapter. They offered a 7/8" one when I bought mine but getting lugnuts to work w/them was a major pain (hence the switch to 1" units). That being said, I don't think I would do any track time w/them. Use some different wheels w/sticky tires for your track days (they don't have to be pretty/bling wheels for the track).

ScotI thanks for the info.

I also heard about H&R adaptors being pretty good:
