Where they still tuck up in the fender. No mini-tub, but will not have the rear leaf springs (maybe a g-bar).

Front will have GM inner fenders. Car will have a low stance.

Best tire/wheel size?

I think Carl is running about the biggest with 17x9.5 all around.

I believe NineBall has run 17 or 18x10 on the back, but it requires fender rolling. The backspacing could be 5.5 or 5.75, not sure though. I think there was a thread where he mentioned the specs on the wheels and tires for his camaro.

Steve I'm running 18x10 out back. 5.75" BS. Tony (Nineball) suggested to shorten the stock axle for more dish on the wheels without mini-tubbing. I thought it was a pretty good idea for a non-minitubbed car to get the deep dished look.

The tires Carl has stuffed under the front of his car is pretty cool. Wish I knew if that setup would work with stock control arms :p

It's won't work with ATS spindles and speetech arm with 18" hoops..

275/40/18 rear with about a 5.5" BS on an 18x9.5
255/40/18 front with about a 5.25 BS on an 18x8.5
Is what my car will have eventually.

Right now I have 275/35 rears and 245/40 fronts.

I assume this for project "Track Rat". Are you changing the sub-frame? how low do you want it? really low? go with 7" in front and 9" or 9.5" in the back. If semi low, go with 8" (5" bs) in front and 9.5" or 10" (5.75 bs) in the back. As far as clearance in the rear, there is no issue with the leafs but rather the inner wheel house. JMO!

Steve. I am waiting on my new wheels from Frank, however, I am currently running 9.5 TTII's with 275 tires and a g-bar with the wheels tucked up into the fender on my 68. My fender's aren't rolled tight, but have a small roll in them. There is still a good 1\2+ inch space on the inside. Don't ask me about backspacing as my situation is messed up, but the temp wheels fit great with lots of space. I will post some pics this week as soon as I get my driveshaft back in.

Chris.

Here is a pic of the wheels before the g-bar install, 3 inch drop, narrowed rear end, and oh the spacers (messed up!).

You should have just called man?

18x10's out back are going to be tight, even at a 5.75" backspace. 9.5's fit nicely with a 5.5", but you are going to be running three piece, or standard lip two piece in this size. Run a 285/40/18, and roll those fender lips.
Up front, I always suggest a 18x8 with a 4.875" backspace, and a 245/40/18. Fits nicely. If you run a 8.5", then yes, a 5.25" backspace is the way to go. Nitto has these sizes in their 555. What wheels have you decided on? We have some sweet new Rushforth's debuting at the end of the month.

Are you doing bodywork? If so narrow the aft outer lip. That will open a plethora of options.

Chad Chad Chad. If you drive the car over here we can try it out. There's no rear wheels on the car now.

I have put my rim and tire on a stock A-arm'ed, ATS spindle, Baer Tracker setup and it would have worked fine with about a 5.25" backspace. Another rim might have fit better since the spoke was the offending part.

I run 17x10 in the rear with 285/40-17. Had to do some work on the fender lip and the inner tubs.

Rybar...
On a stock 68 camaro (other than shocks or coil overs) will this same setup that you have work?
18 x 8 fronts with 5” BS and 245-40-18 tires...
18 x 10 rears with 5.75” BS and 275-40-18 tires..
reason I am asking because the rear wells on a 69 are slightly different...even though they are probably the same in measurements to both year models of course.
I want to get all the meat I can under my car without it rubbing at all. I know when you get a 10 inch rim under there it gets a little spooky. I tried to do the old school look with 15 x 10 and N-50 15's
but the rim sticks too far out for my tastes.
If it all sticks up under the car, Ill be happy with a 18 x 10..
Comments please...

Project, can you post a pic of that setup?
I have the hotchkis 2" drop springs as well going up front.
I did not think you could run anything wider than a 8" rim up front.
Show me what you got up front...
What are you runnig for rears?
Guys!
Im in a delema!
Post some pics of both 17" and 18" setups of the rear please!
Id really like a 18" wheel this go around..
Ran 17X7 TT II"s up front and 17 X 8" TT"s last time around..
Id like to change it up a bit and get a little more meat out the ass end without clearance problems or the rim looking like its sticking past the front or rear well..
Thanks much!

I too run the 17x8" up front with a 245/45/17 but on the back I run a 17x9.5 with 5.5 back spacing and have a 315/35/17. I realize a lot of people say not to run the 315 on a 9.5 wheel because the "manufacturer" doesn't list the wheel that small to mount it on but there is not much of a bulge at all! I have Hotchkis suspension and did not have to roll the lips or massage anything for them to fit. The tires were free so I mounted them and think it looks really good with this tire compared to the 275 on the same wheel.
