700r question

i helped a friend of mine replace a 700r4 in his 80 camaro the tranny is supposed to have a manual valvebody in it but not sure what one or anything he got the tranny used ...

my question is what would cause a tranny to not bang a 2-3 upshift at wot in a car with a manual valve body it will just bounce off the rev limiter untill u get out of the throttle to about 3/4 . some people are saying too much line pressure any thoughts???

It sounds like you could have 3-4 clutch issues. After you let off from the throttle to allow the 2-3 shift to occur, can you go back to wide open throttle? If so does it hold? What about a wot 3-4 up shift? Do you have a detent cable hooked up? Get me some more information and I will see if I can guide you.

the tv cable is hooked up and seems to be adjusted properly ... it does not slip after it takes the shift as for hitting a 3-4 th wide open shift has not been attempted as this is a fairly violent car and not on a track
