Getting power to the power windows....

OK I'm knee deep in my side glass installation and I'm wondering if there is any way to get power to the regulators and control them to go up and down to ease the installation of the glass and also to test the fit and make adjustments. I don't have a wiring harness in the car right now...that's why I'm asking.

      Thanks.

In that case I like to use a jump box, but a battery with alligator clips would work too.

What's the procedure for doing it? That's what I'm really after here. Someone told me a few years ago about using finishing nails on the clamps and then sticking them into the holes of the switch plate receiver on the harness but I don't know if that's a good idea.

Wouldn't you just hook the -ground to the body- and -the switch wire to a switch- then -the switch to the power-? What kinda wires are you dealing with on the motor? Check the amp rating on the motor too. You don't wanna short it out.

I don't know...I'm about as clueless as you can get when it comes to electrical.

Most motors have two wires, +up and +down. The ground is through the motor case.
The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.

This motor has a plug outlet that the harness plugs into. I'm guessing that's where the power is fed in as well as the signal from the controller.

I think I'm screwed. I'm going to have to figure out how to get these b*stards in with the arm extended up. I got the windows out that way, I should be able to get them back in that way as well.
