View Full Version : New Arizen Racing Sports Seats Due Out in June!

We will be replacing our current seat style with two reclinable models and a fixed bucket seat in June. Sample photos of the new reclinable models are shown below. Both of these models have passed 20G rear impact tests and have construction methods like many of the big name expensive seat lines. The seat on the left has a micro-adjust seat back angle adjuster but does not have a quick-tilt for the seat back. If you get in and out of a rear seat of a coupe alot you should take that into consideration. The model on the right has a quick-tilt lever built into the back of the headrest. We will have some black leather and black cloth versions in June and will also offer custom upholstery like the houndstooth seats we currently offer.

What is pricing going to be like - is there any introductory pricing?? How about ride height?
I plan to get some seats from ya'll around June - Will you still offer the current seats or are they going away?

I expect the new styles to be between $499-$599 a piece in black leather and about $100 less in black cloth.
From the bottom of the slider to the top of the seat bottom foam is about 4" but final ride height will depend on the vehicle. First generation Camaro/Firebird should sit pretty low since the floor is flat under the seat and a bracket that raises the seat shouldn't be needed. We will offer the current seats until we run out of frames and foam but that may be before the new styles arrive.

They will not have a manual lumbar. The seat back foam has lumbar support built in. We are looking into a power lumbar that is sold for a Toyota application that may fit these seats but don't know for sure yet.
We can do our own custom upholstery in many colors (but always more expensive) but only planned on having black pre-made to get better volume pricing to pass on to the customer. We ran into problems trying to sell pre-made tan or grey leather seats in the past because people would buy them hoping they matched their interior color and this almost nevers happens. If the shade of tan didn't matter I believe we could special order a set like shown in the picture for the same pricing as black but they would not be returnable.
Pictures of our sample model in all black are linked below.

I worry about the amount and placement of padding for lumbar support when it is not adjustable unless I can test them out. As for the tan seats, would they have the black in them as shown? Is the material a color match to, say a GM product? Also, would you be able to get, or make a matching rear seat cover?

They can have the black sewn in if desired but we cannot guarantee we can match the leather for a rear cover. It is not specified as a specific color code. That is why we did not plan to order any leather colors other than black.

Lets see that fixed back seat.
It is a tight fitting bucket. We designed a way to bolt it to C5/C6 power tracks. I'm a 37" waist and I can fit in it but wouldn't want it for a daily driver.
A larger installed picture is here (http://www.arizenracingsports.com/images/C5-ARS.jpg). Other photos below.

Can they be a mixed pair? I want fixed back for the Dr seat but access to the back from the pass side. Of course they need to look similar.

We could sell a mixed set with both in black leather but the fixed seat (bottom right) would look different than any of the reclinable models. The fixed seat is tight fitting and best fits people around 34" waists and under.

Well, I will be the one to say it, those do not look nearly as good as the old style did. I have been planning to order some of your seats for my Trans Am, but I guess I will have to look elsewhere unless I can order them prior to you running out, which is not too likely. :(

I love the two seats on the left! In my opinion, these seats are more "modern" and should do very well for Arizen. Momo had a seat like the lower left version which I almost ordered until they discontinued...looks like I've found my new seats!

I had this seat and took it apart to see how it was constructed. I can tell you for CERTAIN the Italian companies like Sparco and Momo as well as Recaro of course have much better constructed seats than Corbeau or any of the cheaper imported from China seats. Our new seat line will be more for those who care more about quality and safety than price but will still be the same or less in leather than most of the big names in cloth. We will still offer custom upholstery as well.

These are all new models due out in June. I will list what will be available in each model (black cloth, black leather, etc.) that will be pre-assembled ready to ship. There will be limited quantities of each model until we learn what will be the better sellers and adjust inventory accordingly. Here is a cloth version of the same seat. We will have some available in June in black leather and all black cloth (without the red accents to start out with).

It seems that the "new" versions are cheapened down too, with less features, lumbar adjustment, etc.
Why are you doing this Arizen? What about the people who want those options?

We are still planning on having a lumbar option but that will be upgraded too. There is a power lumbar option that is sold to Toyota by one of our suppliers that we think should fit these seats and we are waiting for a sample.
We are glad to hear people have been happy with the seats we have made them. We try hard to satisfy our customers. But for everybody who loves them there is someone else who refuses to buy them because they do not want such high bolsters on the bottom but prefer a seat that is easier for entry and exit. I wanted to see what would happen if a customer sat on the bolster facing the driver door whenever he got in and out rather than lower and raise himself in and out of the seat as expected. I destroyed the foam on my driver seat with a few months. The new factory we are partnering with has a far superior foam composition as far as durability and resiliency plus frames with a high safety rating. Hopefully with a few different models we can satisfy more people.

Those are the ones I was referring to, the Speed 2's I believe. I can't wait to see the new look of Arizen seats. I would strongly advise you to try and retain your current pricing philosophy as much as possible. If you price your seats anywhere near the Cobras, Recaros, etc. I'm afraid you will lose sales. The biggest thing that draws me to Arizen is all of the great customer feedback coupled with the feeling of a good value. As much as I like your products, should the prices get too high I would have a difficult time convincing myself not to just spend a few hundred more and get a nice set of Cobra Misanos. $1400 a seat is just outrageous! Just my two cents.

Well...this is actually unfortunate news for me. I was really looking forward to my purchase of some Arizen black vinyl seats to match my factory black vinyl back seat and I liked the price of $699 for 2 seats. These new models have pretty much priced me out as a customer. For what it's worth the new seats look great and I'm sure they'll still be more affordable than Momo's or Sparco's with equal quality, but I'm a backyard builder. I got backyard money.
Friggin' eBay here I come.

Exactly. I've got the money right now but I'm trying to drop an LS1 in the Nova. It looks like I may have to put a hold on the engine transplant and buy the seats asap because I'm not feeling the new line-up. Don't get me wrong, they're alright, but they just don't feel "muscle-y", you know?
I could have sworn you said this, but how much longer will you be selling the current seats?
EDIT: Hell with it, I just ordered so I can get some of the "old" seats.

The frames and foam need to be purchased by the container - basically hundreds at a time. Frankly, we don't have the money to continue to buy the old style from one factory and the new styles too.
We are not a big seat company. We are a small family owned business that thought that by filling a niche - offering custom upholstered seats at wholesale prices to the public - we could drum up enough business to pay the bills. We have not, so must now consider other options.

That's understandable, I can't say I blame you. You gotta do what's best for the company...that's the bottom line.
Good luck with the new products. I really like the way they look. :)

We will still offer rear covers. Once the new seat arrive we will determine how best to match the insert designs. We will continue to offer custom stitching patterns like the inserts on the seats below as well.

I'm not sure yet. We do not want to sell all seats available because if anything were ever lost or damaged in shipping we would not be able to replace it. We will wait until the orders we are working on over the next few weeks have shipped to determine what additional orders we could take, if any.

On a side note I really like the set that is on the left of your orifiginal set of pictures but it not folding forward kills it for going in a camaro!

We will be offering the model shown with a solid headrest as well since that has been popular for our houndstooth seats as well as for other cars. The right side photo below is just to give an idea of what that would look like. A believe once people see this model with custom upholstery like the houndstooth cloth, o/e stitching patterns, etc. they will grow on more people.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif
There will also be more 2-tone options for this seat because of the stitching pattern. We can 2-tone only the top of the bolsters ("A") or the inside of the bolsters for a different look ("B") or the inside bolsters and the cushions like the cloth version shown below.

The model above (upper right in original picture) is about an inch taller than our current model. The upper left model is taller (the one without the quick-release seat back) - about 2" taller than our current seat. The other reclinable model I do not have a sample in stock to measure yet and will not until June.

I posted this in the MotiV8r thread but I thought I would paste it here as well
For any of you concerned about the size of the new Arizen (http://www.arizenracingsports.com/) Sport seats worry no more. For those of you that have never met me I'm about 6' 2" tall and about 280lbs. I am putting a set in MotiV8r and here is a picture of the seat and me sitting in it. Granted it is a little snug on my legs but that's a good thing. The last thing I want at an autocross is to be sliding around in my seat.
I'm sure most of you don't weigh as much as I do so you won't have any problems in them. The back and shoulder width feel really nice. In fact a guy who was also looking at the seats came by my house today that's 6' 6" and 210 lbs and he fit in them and loved them as much as I do. The leather and stitching is top notch and the lumbar option is pretty cool. If you are interested in a set you should contact them soon because they only have a few sets left until the next batch is ready in September or October. If you are interested you should e-mail Mark at
[email protected] ASAP.
