Does anyone have any opinions on these seats? I like the style and size for my Corvette. They seem pretty "cost effective". They do offer a warranty on the frames........

My only issue is they will most likely fail in any sort of serious accident.

The good thing is that in a Corvette theres no where for it to go.

NO!!!! My friend got a set like that and he could see the foam through the fabric. Also the sliders were all hosed. Check out www.hunsakersports.com They are great seats and are really comfortable.

Thanks fellas. Those Hunsakers look like a real good choice if they are decent quality. Wonder if I could get them to do me up a set in blue.
Speaking of blue I love the Mustang!

This one is very nice. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/JDM-F1SPEC-R1-SEAT-BRIDE-GIAS-STRADIA-IMUS-KEVLAR-USED_W0QQitemZ330219174637QQihZ014QQcategoryZ33701 QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

These guys are local to me and I have checked them out and they are well built.

Maybe someone should call them to have a pair sent over for an honest review?

Those F1Spec seats look awesome, but I'm wondering if they fold forward for access to the back seat? The pictures show them folding backward, but that means nothing to me because I rarely fold seats backwards. I still want to be able to get into the back seat.

Have you sat in them? They look real nice and I have been looking for a seat that is 18 inches wide forever that wasn't big $$$$, with the sale price those are so tempting.
So how comfortable are they and how good are the latches ?

Thanks ,Jim

I was looking for a comfy/sporty/not ugly seat to put in my old poncho, and I ended up buying some used 02 and up Hyundai Tiburon seats. They have side bolsters and are grey leather, grey cloth inserts, with red fleck and red stitching. I know I've also seen them in blue, but if they came in any other colors I don't know. Something to look into...

Hey Darko,

You know I never tried to flip em foreward. Maybe i'll go out there and try again.

Where are you located?

Hey Jim,

I sat in the R1 and the style 1. They are both nice and fit is very comfy. The latch on the R1 is equal to the Recaro's. I didn't really beat on them.

If it's a track car you might want to think about something with an FIA cert.

I'm guessing they do because the site says it's good for people who still use the rear seat. Still, if you could check, I'd appreciate it. I'm in San Bernardino, btw.

Also, are the F1 Spec seats FIA certified?

Matt I assumed you where up here. We could go take a look. They closed early today so i'll run by there on Monday.

They are running a nice sale on another site, I wonder if they would do the same here.

They where pursuing the FIA cert but it would almost triple the price of the seats. They decided not to certify them to keep them affordable. I still may run them since i am not racing competitive.

I hope they will run an FIA certified series in the future.

Well IMO the FIA cert tells me that it meets minimum standard for bumping into stuff at high speeds. I sincerely hope to never have that happen, but if it does, I don't want to be strapped to something that is "cosmetic".

I wonder if there is a less expensive comp cert that they could get via SCCA or NASA?

I don't know the rules of racing, and this is the first time I've even heard of FIA (someone want to explain what it means?). Are Arizen seats FIA certified? I was going to get those until I saw the F1Spec seats (trying to get the lightest reclining seats I can find).

If you can still participate in *some* races then I don't really mind if the seats aren't certified.

Matt

No, Arizen seats are not certified. They are NOT racing seats. They are good looking, and well made street car seats that look a bit like racing seats.

Nothing against Arizen. They make a nice product. But people ought to know that those things are for street only. To their credit, they'll tell you nothing different.

Tony, just start phoning late model wrecking yards in your area and see if they have any Hyundai Tibureon seats. Mine came from a writeoff with 10k on it...

If you get a chance to come up True we can go by there and have a look. As far as the recliner, it looks stout. Folds forward BTW.
