      Seam Sealer ?'s

Redoing the seam sealer on my firewall and am curious when the preferred time to apply it is? 3M recommends applying it over primer, but I would think it would adhere better to bare metal and resist peeling better that way? What is the general concencus on this? Over bare metal or primer?

If you could put epoxy primer down first, then seam sealer, then epoxy over the seam sealer is the prefered way, but I would put whatever primer you are using down first, then the seam sealer, and get a good two part sealer.

Heres a little bit about rolling on epoxy, and they also mention the two part seam sealer. Its a pretty short thread, but the guys doing the talking know the program.

Here's a list of some stories where we've applied different seam sealers on several cars. The SS496 and Royal Sport Camaro features are the ones to check out. Hope this helps.

Appreciate the links guys. Next set of questions, which epoxy primer would be best on a budget, as well as what seam sealer? Is a two part urethane sealer worth the extra exspense?

      Heres therw web site http://www.southernpolyurethanes.com/SPI%20News.htm

And as far as a two part seam sealer, yes absolutely worth it.

Thanks for the info and link to SPI. Any links to the two part seam sealer or preferred brand?

I use Kent stuff exclusively. I'm not sure of a link I just buy mine from the rep when he comes by work. It is not available in any stores you can only buy direct or from a rep. It is either a lawson or premier company I will look and get a web site tomorrow. Never really had good luck with fusor. Whenever we had a problem with it the reps always said lets see what you did wrong. Not lets see what went wrong. Kinda leaves a bad taste in my mouth when it's always the techs fault never a bad product. I've also used SEM never liked it. same for duramix seam sealer. Also PRIME FIRST you will be cussing later when it falls off. Sand and wipe down primer before applying sealer.
