Im running SPC adjustable upper arms with Howe tall ball joints. The rest of the front suspension as follows, stock lowers w/GW bushings, circle track adjustable spring shims with 500lb 9.5" coils. The shocks are Eddy IAS classics & a Rancho swaybar.

At freeway speeds the front of the car kinda hovers when you run into section of road that "falls away", you can kinda feel the wheels rebound but it take a second for the nose to settle. I know that part of it is a lack of rebound damping but would excess rebound travel add to this?

I do intend to measure this before I take any action, just as soon as the working conditions get a little better here. I read in a previous thread 2" of bump & 3" of rebound are pretty common goals to shoot for.

Since there isnt good provision for adding a bumstop for the SPC arms what do you guys think of using nylon limiting straps like the 4 wheelers do?

Thanks,
Shane

We ran into a similar wierd feel with the Edelbrock shocks on our Stage 2 test car. Switching shocks took care of it and it feels great now. The SCP arms don`t require a droop stop on properly equipped street cars. We do recomend them for drag cars though, just to eliminate excess wear and tear. I like nylon straps from the frame to the lower arms. They`re really simple to install and effective. I generally get them from Mastercraft. http://www.mastercraftseats.com/limitstraps.php
You can also do adj. cables. We carry a kit from Alston but that`s more to tune the amount of wheel stand in serious drag cars and probably more than most folks need. Mark SC&C

Marcus,

I was hoping you would chime in. I may do the strap deal for now, as everything is taking a back seat to an engine build this year. For $50 & a couple of drilled holes, if the end result is better than what I have.......sweet. How much down travel should I limit the drrop to?

Limit it to just before the shocks run out of travel or the UCAs contact the frame, whichever comes first. Allow for a little stretch in the straps. Mark SC&C

Hey Erik,

I havent switched the front shocks yet. I think the 2 problems are feeding each other & I only wanna make 1 change at a time. Not to mention I dont have the cash for shocks right now. I would really like to spring for Varishocks but thats a dream for another day.
