4L60E tranny swap problems

I have a 95 Chevy Suburban 1500 4X4, and a 94 GMC 1500 4X4. One has a 4L60E and the other has a 4L60. Will the electronic shifter work on the manual shifting tranny? If so how and what do I need to make it work. thanks.

I guess what i need to know is are the trannys the same internally or does the 4L60E have electrical part inside that the 4L60 doesn't have?

Hey. The 4L60E and 700R4/4L60E are basically the same internally but the 4L60E is controlled electronically by the vehicles computer and the 700R4 uses a TV cable and a governor to control line pressure and upshifts/downshifts. If you are wanting to swap the 700R4 in place of your 4L60E or vise-versa you will have to acquire a few things to make it work(pain in the butt and you will set check engine codes). So to try to sum this up, the electronics wont control the 700R4 and you would be better off keeping the vehicle original and just getting the trans rebuilt by a reputible shop. It will save you a few headaches! Hope this helps! Steven
