Can wheel offsets be corrected?
Neighbor has some billet wheels made for his car and it seems the offset is a little off on the passenger rear wheel, he gets tire rub around corners and over certain bumps.
It seems like the wheel/tire should be about 1/8 or 1/4 inch further inward, and it does look like there is enough room, can this be changed and corrected?

Offset is set when they make the wheels, so no,it cannot be easily changed once it is built unless they are multi piece modular wheels.

However, if one side is off and they other is not, I doubt it is incorrect offset in the wheels, but you can measure them to verify. I'd venture it rather is a slightly mislocated suspension component. Cars are mass produced and there are assembly variences built in to them. You get enough of these tolerances stacked up on one side and VIOLA! interference. He needs to verify that each wheel mounting face is in the identical position on each side.

There are always spacers...

Depends on what wheel it is. I tried it with a pair of Billet Specialties once, and re hooping them cost almost as much is a new set of wheels.

Yes it can be done on a 2 piece billet, but it requires that you re-hoop the wheel. That means that you have to machine the center out of the wheel and then put a new outer hoop on. It's not cheap, but it can be done. We will re-hoop our own wheels, but we will not re-hoop another company's wheels.

try 1/8" or 1/4" spacers. what kind of car? if its a body-on-frame (A-body, G-body, etc.) if the bushings are old, the body can be as much as 1/2" or more to one side. like High Plains said, its more likely the suspension or body panels is out of adjustment, not the wheel.

Exaclty right, of course offset can be changed! So long as it is a two piece or three piece wheel.
