We got to 690 hp today on BP pump premium fuel, idles smooth at 920 rpm.
Stock plastic intake, stock DBW throttle body, Tuned GM Corvette ecu, Custom Cam, head work, Schwartz MAF.
Maybe we'll hit it tomorrow, 2 more LS7's with different parts to test
Videos soon.

Amazing numbers Jeff.

Andrew keeps telling me that the factory ECU is the way to go. We gotta talk about a engine/transaxle combo some day...

Exactly!
My old 500 hp LS6 with a 150 shot would take a new ZR1

Awesome work Jeff!! Congratulations!

I'm glad to see you testing things out because I still hope to get an engine in the coming months. The choices make my head spin.

Hey Jeff,
What's your thoughts on these cam specs for a LS3

Lift .591 .569
Duration 230 226
Lobe separation 112 with 4 degrees advanceOn another note how do you do so many different aspects of car building so well?
I am always impressed with the stuff you produce. Keep up the good work.

I think an LS3 would favor more of a traditional split cam as opposed to the reverse split listed above. The LS3 heads flow great on the intake but the exhaust is a little lagging. So a cam with more exhaust timing and lift is prefered from what I understand.

I've tested numerous different combinations of intakes, intake mods, camshaft profiles, etc. More that 100 pulls on the dyno.
Spent thousands of dollars testing. (all on LS7's).
Video and charts coming as soon as I get a chance to load it into my computer.
I dont like those cam specs for an LS3, what Andrew said.
Thanks

Thanks guys, I've got a lot to learn.

I agree with them too.

I thought the LS3 used the L92 heads and that it therefore would need a sizeable amount of extra exhaust duration. (given same lift)

I'm just going from recollection though,.....I should take better notes. :)

Jeff
the only way I know of to compare "streetability" over the internet is to compare idle vacuum@rpm.

So, if and when you post information on these setups, I'd be real interested in hearing those values.

I get so tired of magazines claiming "streetable cam" when they're running .6xx+ lift on the cams.

In my experience, 12" < 1000 rpm is "streetable", but you can't really call it "vette quality streetable" for the average older guy souping up this car unless you have more like 15".

Although that has nothing to do with what some guy in a super Ultima or trying to set records might like.

10" of vacuum at 920 rpm on the 730 hp. Where it idles nice.
It's 12 around 1000. We have 3 different cams, depending on intended use. (desired vacuum)
Of the 27 modified LS7's I've done in the past 12 months, none were for Corvettes.
We're making DVD's for the 5 customers, who's engines these are. Once they have the DVD's I'll post video, couple more days. Link to charts: http://gmachinechassis.com/dyno

Thank you Jeff for updates. I am allso looking for a real life streetable cam for "heavy" weight camaro. So i would appreciate good idle and vacuum. Do you have below 700 hp cams ? If so what kind of hp numbers and idle ?

After testing numerous custom grinds over the past year, we've come up with 4 cams depending on intended use.
Call me to discuss.

Hey Jeff...........you should probaly give some credit to Don Bailey since this is where you got all your tune up information from...I see him in the picture........and of course without him.....you would be up the creek!

Sorry Mr. Cunningham, I was a bit over anxious to post this, Don Bailey was instrumental in achieving these numbers. That's him in the picture with me. The best EFI tuner in the World! I'm glad I hired him.
Thanks

Jeff sells these engines as a crate package and other custom touches. Call his at the shop and ask. He's real friendly.

He also just came down with the flu. Sounds like the same thing that I am just getting over. So if he is not responding, please be patient. This bug is nasty.

We were datalogging air fuel on my laptop as the
dyno's air fuel wouldn't interface properly.
Since this was drive by wire I was operating the throttle
pedal with my left hand.
