Hello All,

How many heat cycles should I be able too get out of some Kumho MX tires? As far as heat cycles go what is the definition? Is it a track day, or does each session count, as it heats up and cools each time??? I get 8 sessions in a track Weekend.

Hello All,

I don't think I will have too worry about it, as it looks like they will wear out after about 4 to 5 track Weekends. I just got back from a track Weekend at Infineon, and there is plenty gone already.

The wear seems to get better as they wear. I haven't done any track days on my MX's, but they have about 23,000 miles on them and 1 season of autox (11 events, 4 runs per event) and they are down just past the wear indicators. They did wear faster at first, but get better after a few heat cycles. Now they are losing grip, probably too many heat cycles and miles.

The Kumho MX is a great tire to start out with! You can drive to the track have a good day and drive back. And like Randy said, you can get 20k miles out of them.

Bad news. I have already chunked the left front tire after my last Weekend at Infineon, and it will need to be replaced before Buttonwillow this next Weekend. I'm running lots of air in the front(41-51psi hot), so it's not an inflation problem. I am still working on the front to rear handling balance, but it isn't too far off (still slightly biased to understeer). Oversteer is available right away with the throttle. I am working on reducing it more, but I want too avoid getting to a point where I have too delay accelerating out of a turn hard because the back is trying to pass the front! Tire temps shows the rear tires only 10 degree F lower than the fronts.

Is there a street tire that can handle the heat, or is it my driving? Help!
