So I was just curious what everbody had projected to spend on the project and how it has changed. I know that I had planned on a simple restoration, I had planned on on spending about 15k total for the entire project including paint engine and everything, but it has changed quite a bit from where it began. I sure hope it turns out to be worth the money!

i never had a budget all i knew was that i was going to build the car to my likeing no matter how much time and money it took.

started with just getting it running and driving for about 15k back in sept now i still cant even roll it around and have over 16k in it. and that without the orginal cost of the car and the new parts iam loosing money on that i changed my mind on. so iam thinking 20-23k and i can drive it with no int or paint. o'well at least its the way that i want it.

budget? whats that...i would like to say that i had some sort of budget in mind when i started, but i didn't. i guess i'm just thinking that it may take a little longer to get on the road, but it will be the way that i want it when i'm finished. if i would have planned a budget for everything i wanted to do to my car, i would have spent too much time trying to figure out what i wanted and what would go good with what rather than building and going along making changes as i go. seems simpler to me to just build what i want than to try to stick to a plan...its a nice thought though...:cheers:

I've always told people I meet that you take your best guess and double it and you will be close. I'm a penny pincher and tight wad so I've been able to stick pretty close to mine but mine are usually realistic. I think most projects die because the owner is not realistic in that area. It's fine if you have the disposable income to keep it going but some folks need to be honest with them selves before the project starts. Just my worthless 2 cents!

initial budget * 2.5
Time & cash.
And that is if you don't completely do a 180

that would be initial budget x 4.5. You have more scope creep issues then I do, lol

There is this
What I want it to cost.....we will call this X
What it would cost to do if I was rolling in cash so i could do it all at once....this would be 2X = Y
Then there is the real cost in life......this would be 3 to 4 times Y, that is if i keep the redesigns to a minmum.

Mine was more like;
Original: See honey, :look: I have it all figured out.
Now it's: You idiot :getout:
Please :help: I need a place to stay.
I originally figured 20-25K on my White car, full resto, doing most everything myself but farming out the body and paint. Decided to upgrade and change a few things along the way, looking at about 30K finished now. Seems to be about right, I'm in final assembly, and most all parts are bought.

When I got the car I am currently working in, I estimated 10k:lmao: to fix somethings, paint and some personal touches. The scope is still the same , but has become a lot more indepth. never anticipated doing a nut and bolt job. I also changed the driveline and susoension. By the time i'm done, hopefully early summer, i'll be close to 50k. :eek: :eek:

I'm well over 30 and don't even factor in misc. stuff. And trust me there's been a few big things on the misc. list.
