I'm interested in this question too... especially since if you put a bolt through the bottom mount hole of the pedal (from an '05 GTO), the head of the bolt limits the pedal travel.

I did it.. but it's a secret.. shhhhhh

j/k

Ok.. two ways to do this. The first requires that you repaint the firewall. Make a plate and attach studs to it so that hte pedal can mount to the plate. Then weld the plate to the inner firewall in the right location so that the pedal falls in the correct spot.

The other way is to bolt the plate to the firewall (rather than weld).

In either event you will be able to remove the pedal assembly incase it needs to be replaced.

Make sense?

Whats the ideal mounting position for the pedal? In terms of heel toe driving, and comfort. how close to the brake should it be? the same height or lower than the brake? any suggestions? I already sold my old pedal so I cant really remember where the old one was mounted.

Here is a page from the new GM Performance parts harness instruction sheet. It lists some guidelines for positioning the gas pedal.

Great info Andrew. How many pages is that GM Performance parts harness instruction? Would it be easy enough to post up, or is there a link to it?

Someone on LS1tech.com posted it. Here are the other 3 pages.
