I bought 3/16 stainless steel tubing to make lines with, the biggest problem being you canot use a regular flaring tool set to flare the ends. The tubing is too stiff and pushes through the holding device....Does anybody know of a cheap/easy/quick alternative to use for flaring stainless tubing? Looks like hydraulic flare tool set is about $300. ?!?!:crying:

Put the clamp in a vise to squeeze it tighter. I hit the clamp with a hammer to "bite" before I put the clamp in the vice. Then I sand and polish the scare away

Hey thanks Frank. Hammer and vise did it.....on the flare tool kit it states "not for use with stainless steel"...just confirms never read the instructions

Does your flaring tool a two-piece type, or is each die split? If each die is split (Imperial) then lubricate the threads on the clamp bolt with moly grease and use a cheater on the T-handle.Putting a bit of moly lube on the end of the tube helps as well. If using AN fittings the scar from the flaring clamp will be mostly hidden by the ferule.

The dies are the split type, 2 piece with a bolt on each end. greasing does allow them to crank down tighter...thanks
