will a 20x10 wheel for a Bmw with a 35+ offset work w/ fender lips rolled without wheel tubs on a 1st gen firebird? if so what tire? thanks!

That is a 6.875" backspace on a 10" wheel, you need somthing more along the lines of a 5.5-5.75" backspace, so you'll need a spacer.

As far as tire, a 285/30/20 is a safe way to go.

Remember a Firebird has a "Wide track" 1" wider rear then a Camaro. Since we normally set up Firebirds with 6.5" backspace, you are a maybe within a 1/8",

Correct

so a +25 to +30 mm offset would be good on 20x10" rim?

That should be very close. If you want to be completely safe you may want to measure you rear end axle flange to axle flange. Make sure nothing has been changed. It should be 61"

Totally overlooked that, I read first gen, and immediately thought camaro. Good catch... like Frank says, your damn close then, but like he said, confirm your overall length first. :drive1:
