I have a 68 GTO, and a 4L80 and want to keep the factory his/her shifter.

OPGI sells: 1967-68 His & Hers Shifter Conversion Kit.

http://www.opgi.com/product.asp?topcatid=70&chapterid=1038&topvalue=0&newflag=0&grpcode=27207&yearrange=

I am looking at : G22159 700-R4, 200-4R, 4L60 67-68 KIT

From what I understand the 4L80 is a bigger stronger transmission than the 4L60 but has the same physical connections/cables/lines ect....

I have to make the new crossmember and work on fitment but wanted to ask the question now.

Do I need this kit and the shifter cable or just the kit?

Any questions, comments or concerns?

TIA

That shifter is a great choice. The only catch is matching the PRND spacing of the shifter to the detent on the side of the transmission. The gap from P to R is wider on the '80. Some minor modification might be required to the shifter gate, or the detent. Start with a quick call to Shiftworks. I don't see any 4L80 kits on their website, but it's worth a call. I've met them--very nice people, so they should be accommodating if possible. As for the cable, I say get it. It might be a gamble, but wll probably simplify the task.
