I have been trying to figure out what 18s to get (cheaper the better), but perhaps i can find a set of 17 in wheels to fit over the brakes...has anyone put 17s over the 14 in. wilwood brake kit? Will 17s fit? if so, i can save lots of $.......please help..
thanks

You put 14in Wilwoods (6 Piston) ... Cheaper the better on rims ... is it a road-track thrasher your building?
You can call most of the Rim manufactures and they'll generally tell you which 'lines/models' fit as they generally test fit or have leading edge customers that have the latest biggest brakes and have ordered with them. Since your on a budget they'll be able to comment on which of the lower cost models/lines will fit. My 13in Wilwood's have plenty of clearance with 17" Budniks.

Yes, 17'' wheels can fit over a 14'' rotor with Wilwood 6 piston calipers. We had this exact setup on ''The Mitchell Brother's ZR-28'' Camaro using Torque Thrust 11's before we upgraded to Budniks. They sure fill up the wheel! Since we did upgrade, I have a mint set of TT

A little heavy, but not too bad for a steel wheel. 25lbs I believe for a 17x9.

FYI, I happen to have a 17x9 cragar D window in the shop for my current project, and unless they're made really different from the soft 8 they tip the bathroom scale at a shade under 40llbs.

My bad. Another person on a forum claimed he contacted Summit directly for those exact size and type wheels and they said the shipping weight listed was 40lbs, but actual wheel weight was 25lbs.

That's a hell of a lot of packing then. Aero and Bassett both make black steel wheels that are around 25 lbs, but they are only available in 15 inch sizes. Wish I could find one comperable in a 17!

The 17s will not clear the 14" anyway. You need a full 16" Inside Diameter on the inner wheel shell, and I do not know of any 17" wheel that is going to have that.
