Budnik 17x13's and 17x9.5's w/Pilots 335/35/17 rear and 255/45/17's front.
Hung a few fenders and doors one afternoon just to see what she'd look like.I just recently purchased more pilot tires size 345/30/19's and 275/35/18's. Currently trying to pick out a new set of rims and debating on selling the Budnik package.

Modified the front valance by combining a 68 firebird, 68 camaro and a 69 camaro valance. Also cutout the rear gas door and replaced it with a shelby gas cap along with a 68 camaro rear bumper.

Thanks for the replies. When the time comes I will be selling the rims and tires, using them for rollers now, just going bigger. They will be driving lights. The raptor coating comes in quarts with its own spray gun, real user friendly with no harmful vapors once cured, so I also sprayed the inside floor boards. You can also dilute it to your desired thickness. Cars been in a buddys garage who has his own private paint and body shop, does nice work. It's been there for about 9 months. It's being wet sanded with 600 now, so it should be getting painted this week. Here's the thread kind of following the link. Hope it's ok to put it here? http://www.lateral-g.net/forums/showthread.php4?t=7970.
Here's afew recent pics, the front bumper is only held on loosely w/2 bolts for pics but gaps are perfect when all the fasteners are on. The front clip (wayne due) came with the car. Purchase is a long but interesting story to be told later. The car is from mich. and can be seen on DSE's website under 68 firebird, previous owner, Charles Bolin. I've owned and been working on the car for 2 years now.

The front looks so wierd it's cool, only hope the engine stays cool as well. You cut off a lot of air flow into the radiator.
I like the look, just question the function.

Tough to get good pictures of a black car in a paint booth, but we cleared the Birds body today. I'll put the Wayne Due front end back on it Wednesday and then hopefully keep painting the remaining pieces right away. Once that's done, we'll assemble, wet sand then buff. She is straight. Mark did a good job with the body work.

First of all the engine has not been on a dyno yet. According to Butler it should make around 580/580 on the crank.
would love to put a LS in the engine bay but since we are over the pond (and $$-wise) I stick with the Poncho. At the same time I love the old school look of a carburated 400.

Hi Cliff, thanks for the interest. Nothing to speak of, I'm in paint purgatory. Just a lot of broken promises. Car has been in his shop for 15 months, very frustrating. He's a good guy and does good work but poor budgeting and use of time. Wish I would have know about TJ and his dad over at Bruning Auto Design prior to making my decision. It would have been a no brainer. Hopefully I'll have more to update soon. I'm am currently stroking my 400 block to a 461. Motor was sitting in my garage rebuilt by Martin Motorsports 8 years ago and only dyno'd w/0 miles on it, so I was alittle worried about it but when I opened it up, it was in beautiful shape w/the best of internals in it, almost a shame to stroke it buuutttttt, HP you know.

man i've been watching this forever and just realized i hadn't replied. i'm a die hard firebird guy. i've got a 67 and some others listed in my sig. i love your car, not too many firebirds get built to this level and it's nice to see. i've considered painting mine all black including trim and bumpers so i can't wait to see yours finished. i love cliff's car as well. very good looking for a white bird. i may keep mine white for sentimental reasons. i've had it for 10 years and it's currently white, too hard to decide on a color lol.

i love the gas cap but how is your bumper going to fit? or are you going to modify it?

Keep your chin up! My '69 Bird was in paint purgatory for 10 months...he's still got the hood, so that makes it 17 months. No biggie, gotta pull the motor to fix a leaking seal and I'm in MN, winter is on it's way. Sure would be nice to have a complete car by spring!

Mine is black with the parchment interior, matching Arizen seats. I like FOWLPLAY, I might steal it if you don't use it! I was going to use BLKBIRD, but the white interior kinda blows that one.

Good luck! Black birds rule!! Oh yeah, good job on keeping the Poncho under the hood, you won't be disappointed, my little 383 goes like a scalded dog with around 475hp/440tq, you should have a good deal more than that!

I've been pretty eager to see this assembled because I've been considering blacking out my 67 but it just seems that so many things that look good on camaros don't look as good on firebirds, such as body color front bumpers. I've seen a few black 67/68s with black front bumpers. They looked kinda weird but they had a little too much chrome and stuff still. Are you still going with the two tone paint? hopefully we can see it all black first if you are.

I'm also interested in seeing the rear bumper. I'm not sure what to do for mine. The stock one is a little bit bulky but the camaro one is a little to skinny. I might have to reshape a firebird bumper to be somewhere in between the two.

I appreciate everyone's positive reinforcement. I now go over and work on it everynight after work and weekends until it's finished. Fingers are getting alittle raw but getting alot accomplished these past two weeks. Not a very good photographer but you get the idea. The upper two pictures are taken through the booths dirty glass windows. Everything gets two base coats then wet sanded, then another two base coats and then five coats of clear. Next, a lot of wet sanding and buffing.
Todd I really appreciated you taking the time today to answer my questions. It was a huge help.

I like the way the filler gap is closed on your front valance. How much time did it take to do something like that? How about I send you another valence to mod? https://www.pro-touring.com/forum/images/smilies/thinkerg.gif

Modified the front valance by combining a 68 firebird, 68 camaro and a 69 camaro valance. Also cutout the rear gas door and replaced it with a shelby gas cap along with a 68 camaro rear bumper.

Hey Trey sorry for the delayed response. It is the control arm and front clip. I'm alittle bummed with the Wayne Due subframe and c4 suspension clearance. As she sits, there's only 2" of clearance. The wheels are cambered in quite a bit and I'm going with 18's on the front and 19's on the rear instead of the 17's she's wearing now, so once I take care of these items I should gain alittle height but not enough and stance is huge in my opinion. I want to change the QA-1's and go with airride but I don't know how I'm going to do that with the clearances I have to work with. In the end, if I can't figure it out, the car will pay a visit to bruning design and see what ideas they may have as I am enamored with Tims Fabrication and overall car building skills.:worship:

Found an old thread by David Pozzi showing how to relocate my shifter to it's original position so I've decided to try and give it a go. Pictured is the first half of the move, I fabricated a new relocation plate using 3/8" aluminum plate instead of steel, moving the shifter 1 1/2" down and 1" forward. Next I will have to change the husrt shifter making a stick adapter extending it up 1" and 2" to the right. Hope it works out.

Thanks everyone, we're moving right along w/the car now. Multi tasking. Seems like the little brown truck has been showing up daily at my door step lately(Vintage air accessories, March excessories, power steering line kits, DSE wiper motor, NuRelic electric windows, Dakota digital VHX guages, shockwaves and airpod, AAW kit, Optima battery/holder and more) life is goodWill most likely be purchasing a set of wheels on Black Friday, tough decision when it comes to wheels as there are other choices I'm interested in also especially local supporting vendors but hard to pass up 20%-30% off deal!
Thanks again

Great to meet you Lenie, I just looked through the entire build thread and Damn that is a nice looking Bird. I have a soft spot for Firebirds, they are kind of the red-headed step brother to the Camaro, and I have owned a 93 and 95 TA. I'd love to come see it sometime. Did you make a decision on the wheels? I'm amazed what a small world it is!

Little update, shockwaves are in(tight fit, had to manufacture a few special brackets to make it work), side glass/nurelics power window equipment and all associated pieces are in (what a nightmare as my xbody guy left us w/a few surprises). Driveline is in (and Todd if you're reading, I now have the correct driveline angle:yes: ) All brake/fuel lines are completed. Vintage air lines all installed, March power steering reservoir and associated lines installed, my Dakota digital vhx guages/American auto wire kit have arrived and ready to install and I ordered a set of Forgelines(at the end of the day, I just couldn't turn down the Black Friday discount). So I guess I'll have a set of Budnik Tillers/Michelin pilot sports package up for sale along with a set of coilovers here shortly. Been moving right along on the car here lately as I have a good person helping me. Two front seats have also been upholstered and ready to go.

Thanks for letting me come over and take a look at yours before I ordered, helped big time. It's a bad picture but polished centers w/gloss black hoops inside/out. How's your project going, killer build. Once we're finished, we'll have to hit the roads together.
