I need some help in setting the ignition settings in Calmap. I've tried calling the tech line but was unable to get through. Hopefully someone here can help.
I have a Gen 7 system. I have no spark at plugs. I'm using an HEI distributor with no module and an MSD 6AL box. Pick up coil is connected to the crank- and crank+[Pins 'C' and 'D']. White wire is connected to points-est pin "H". I have selected universal IPU in the ignition setup in the software as I was instucted by Accel the one time I did get through. No spark at plugs. I have the distibutor out of the engine so I can spin it by hand. I have tried all the options in the ignition configuration and none work. I have tested the pick up coil and the MSD box and both work. I even sent the computer back to Accel to be checked out. They say it tested out fine. I'm at my wits end:dunno:
Thanks for any help.

Can you take the crank coil out and set it up in batch mode to see if that's the problem?

I have it set up for staggered batch now. By take out the crank coil do you mean run in fuel only mode? I know the pick up coil is good as I can unplug it from the computer and hook it directly to the MSD and I have spark. It's like the computer isn't reading the pick up coil.

with the hei and 6al i dont believe that you can control timing in that setup. i may be wrong but unless its a 7pin hei you will be in fuel only mode. someone correct me if i am wrong.

Make sure the output is set to sink points for the MSD.
Does the crank trigger LED in the Calmap diagnostics screen blink when you spin the distributor?

I have triple checked everything. All connections and all settings. I even tried an HEI with the module. And yes I remembered to change the settings in Calmap. Still no luck.
Today I finally got through to tech support. Mike came to the same conclusion I have. The computer is bad. It's going back to them again for more testing. We'll see....

Before you send it back, just for grins change the swap the pins on the HEI pickup coil to change the polarity.

Where do you have the tach wired up to? On the standard MSD coils you can not run the tach lead from the coil, it must be run from the MSD box. I did this and several of my friends did the same thing. I couldn't get spark with the extra tach wire on the coil.
I have the DFI Gen 7 on my car but am using a billet distributor, coil, and MSD box. It took a while to get the wiring set up correctly from the compter to the ignition.

Update: Turns out I was right! Computer was bad. I sent it back to Accel again and this time the found the problem. I would like to thank Mike at Accel for not only getting it fixed quickly but it doing it free of charge! Mind you this is a 5 year old system I had bought used. I would recommed Accel to anyone looking for EFI systems.:twothumbs
