You need to check the fluid with the transmission warm, running in park. The total capacity of a 4L60-E really depends on what style converter, pan & cooler that you are running. If it is a stock 4L60-E that is between a 1993 - 1997 it should hold 10.5 - 11 quarts (stock non 300 mm converter and a small cooler) if you have a 1997 -up (stock 300 mm converter, factory deep pan, & small cooler) is should hold 11 -11.5 quarts. I hope this helps.
