      68 Camaro 18" wheel/tire/suspension advice needed

      Hi all,

I'm the proud owner of a bone stock 68' Camaro that I'm hoping to add some pro-touring elements to, but still maintain the "spirit" of the vehicle as it was when I purchased it. With this in mind, I'm looking to add 18" Rally wheels to my car and am looking for wheel, tire and suspension advice.

I do not plan on upgrading my control arms or minitubbing the car, but do want to lower the car to get rid of as much fender gap as possible. I dont necessarily want to tuck tire, but I do want to get that clean modern look.

Soooo..which wheel/tire/suspension combos would you recommend, and if you have pics, please post them! =)

Thanks, and its nice to meet all of you!

From the sounds of it, you want to stay somewhat basic in your modifications. You could just use a dropped spindle up front or just a lowering spring and maybe upgrade the back with a multi-leaf lowering spring as well. As far as wheels, you can use a 18x8 & 18x9 stagger with 245/40 & 275/40. Most importantly...when ordering / buying your wheels, make sure of your backspacing so as to avoid any problems in the future. This is just one opinion though, i'm sure you'll hear from many others on this board. As far as pictures, you can look through the PT Garage area for idea's. I have 18's on my 67 as well, good luck, oh by the way welcome to the site, there is a whole lot of information here.

Hotchkis 2" dropped spring for the front and DSE 3" dropped leafs for the rear. Get a good set of adjustables and your done...

See my pic's for that look.

THAT IS IT! Could you list what shocks you went with as well as the wheel stats (size and backspacing) and tire sizes you went with?

Edlebrock shocks...I think the classic IAS..I forget been awhile since I installed them...

Wheels are 18" Billet Rallys...from Newstaliga wheels..(site sponsor) I think..again been awile...I think they offer two sizes of derby caps now...

As far as backspacing see if you contact Bigboi on this site, he just put a set on his car and has the BS measurements...I ordered mine a few years ago and don't remember where the paperwork is and
      don't want to guesstimate..

Tires are what was said by class67: 245/40/18 and 275/40/18...

Anything else I can help you out with??

Thanks for the feedback everyone, I appreciate it! I think I've figured out what route I'm going to take! Now I'm off to figure out what gauges to go with (I want to go with combo gauges in the stock gauge cluster) as well as better aftermarket front buckets that still look classic.
