I have purchased a 68 camaro with a new Edelbrock top of the line Performer 350 engine in it. the engine costs 6500.00 from JEG's (aluminum heads, forged internals, the works...)

I wanted to do a LSx swap, but I can't justify the money in pulling this engine out. The problem is the car has a 2 speed powerglide transmission.

My question is what overdrive transmission would work best with this engine?

Thanks

To me it would depend on the rear end ratio and where you plan on driving. If your just going to cruise around town and drive to any long distance stuff, then a good old well built TH350 with a mild converted will be a nice driver. If you have plans on a long distance hauler then a 700r4, can beat the OD on the freeway.

Have some real fun and put a TKO500 or 600 in it and shift for yourself, this makes even slow boring cars fun.

I would go with a nicely built 700r4 or if you want to step up to a electronically controled version and have the ability to use paddle shifters go with the 4l60-E. Give the guys at Bowler Performance Transmissions a call they can set you up with everything you need.
