I am planning a ls1 t56 swap in my 69 camaro. it currently has the factory console with a horseshoe auto shifter. can it be made to work with the t56?

I moved my console back, little tight between the seats but it's not bad. Otherwise you'd never really notice it being any different from being stock. I'll see if i can dig up some pics.

I did the same, moved my console back about 6 inches (maybe a little less). It looks okay, but it does look a little odd if you know what you're looking at.

I only had to move mine back 2" to get the stick to come up in the hole correctly. I modified the stock console shift tunnel (plastic that goes from the console down to the floor around the shifter) so that it would clear the bigger boot that I put on to seal the shifter hole.

I don't have any actual pictures to show how far the tunnel was moved back, but in this picture you can see the stock forward mounting hole which I had to redrill in the little crease just in front of the automatic shifter cable grommet.

I really need to take some pictures of my own car when I have my camera at the car shows. I don't have any real finished pictures of it outside of a couple of exterior ones...

Didn't McLeod make a relocatible shifter?
