I figure since my car has no engine in it, id try and spruce up the exterior a bit. I have Polished Z06 wheels thats i HATE trying to keep nice in the rain, and i was thinking that my truck wheels are powdercoated black and i never have to keep them clean, the water spots dissapear on it.

So my question is whats the best way to paint a polished rim? Im pretty sure your gonna say scuff the rim, but what should i use? sandpaper, scotch-brite pad etc. Also should i throw down some primer on the rim, and i have a gallon of DuPont high Gloss black automotive paint (no rattle cans here) that i want to use.

So my main questions are:
-Scuff the wheel with what material?
-Should i prime the surface?

Thanks, alot

I've painted a set of wheels before and I would primer them, the paint will need a good surface to adhear to. I dont think the scuffing will really do it.

Sand paper works well. Paint won't stick if it doesn't have a surface it can stick to. Also make sure you get all the grease off of them. Some wheel polish has oil in them that can make it difficult to get paint to stick.
