I guess i am in the minority since i do not care for the DSE dash. The less is more theme is what i desire. I want to install 3.5" carbon fiber autometer gauges in the factory 69 dash cluster. if the rims were painted satin black it would be stealthy!!!
so has it been done? anyone got a pic?

I took these pictures at a goodguys show a couple years ago because I'm looking at doing the same thing. The guy said he just epoxied them in there. Not sure about any specifics beyond that though...

I did it but i dont think i have any good pictures. I'll see what i can find. All i had to do was take out the originals and use a dremel tool to make them fit.

I did that and it worked great but I was hard on the plastic and broke the dash after a while. Make a stencil of the factory gauges (lay them face down flat and trace around) for both. Mark the face side. Locate the very center and use a compass to create the circle. Make 2 of each side. Cut the holes in the dash to match. The left (speedo) side is difficult because it has areas that sick out and there will be a lot of material removed to make it flat in the back. Once the dash is clearanced use one plate on either side of the dash to sandwich the remaining material and slide the gauges through. Use the supplied braket to hold it in place. Also, I primed and painted the plate on the front side matte black to match the dash.
I hope this helps. If you need anymore help with this let me know.

I did it, but I used the 5" versions. Had to loose the dummy light area below the factory guages though.

I used the 3.5 's with the the 2 1/8 's. I have a vintage air heater
system so I wasn't using the vents for anything. I built the gauge holders out of aluminum and angled them towards the driver.
I then used plexiglass that looked like stock( from McMaster car )to cover them just like the speedo and tach are covered from
the factory.
