Question about my starter.

i have a 396 BB with an lt1 6 speed and a 153 tooth flywheel. I bought an LT1 starter like TAS told me to and it does not fit the bolt pattern on the big block. So, i was wondering if the starter i took off the bigblock would work. its a high torque mini starter but it was used on a 168 tooth flywheel before. Could this starter possibly work for me?

You are going to have to get a starter made for a 153 tooth flywheel. Most mini starters go both ways.

Well mine is a mini starter. Should i just try it?

Some mini starters have dual mounting bolt patterns, 4 seperate holes in the mounts. If yours has this it will work. If not I've seen people drill the block for the other starter style.

That or the starter can be clocked in the housing to make it work in a variety of applications including 153 v. 168 tooth flywheels.
