I have been a member for a while and really never posted my project. I just really started hitting it hard,
Truck starting out..
1994 S-10 Reg Cab
4/4 drop
15x7 15x10 Ralleys
all stock brakes

Im going to be going too.
5/6 drop (im going to start working on a set up upper arms)(i have lower arms for shockwave or coilovers, but im hoding off on coilovers)
C5 front brake set (im making all the brackets and stuff)
LS1 rear disc
Bonspeed wheels
18x8 245/45/18 Nittos
18x10 305/45/18 Nittos

Right now the truck has a 4.3L 5 speed, im going to build a nice little small block. I was thinking about starting out with the ZZ4 short block, AFR heads, thumper cam, Quick Fuel carb (E85)

Old pic of the truck

We just bought a bridgeport and lathe, got them hooked up yesterday and i have been playing with then since we got them hooked up.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks Dan

Got the mock up bracket cut out and on, ended up having to mill .081" off. Time to Autocad it and send it out to get lasor cut out.

Also im looking for front coils, and im really liking the Hotchkis coils, had them in a truck before and loved them. And then do a adjustable shock.

Bad94
09-04-2007, 01:19 PM
Well i just bought a set of Koni adjustable shocks and getting ready to order a of Hotchkis coils.

You dont need to waste ur time with jason, i have talked to him and dave, and both say they dont plan to make them soon.

If i buy the arms i sent you i will make a droop stop. I found them in 4130 too for a few bucks more.

Im got a meeting with the lathe for a few hours, im going to be making my own rear leaf bushings out of nylon.

Black on the calipers

Global west would be the only way to go if your going to run coil overs.

Ask for Kevin Doyle - tell him Marty with Syborg said Hi !!!

Sweet S10! Nice talking to you today too. That`s just begging for that healthy small block and a Stage 2 so you can beat up on some new sports cars. :twothumbs Mark SC&C

Definetly going to keep an eye on this thread.

Take it from somone who had red calipers, they were cool looking at first, but overtime I got sick of them. Stood out like a sore thumb. I'd go with black, or if you are wanting to show them off a little maybe do a silver.

What type of Bonspeeds are you thinking?

Thanks for taking the time and talking to me.

You have really got me thinking now. but the only thing im worried about is the tie rod hitting the frame, but i think i have plenty of room.

i might be calling you monday with a little order.:hmm:

Bad94
09-11-2007, 02:53 PM
Well i got all my parts, that i ordered.

But i still dont know if i want to go ahead and do the SPC and tall balljoints now or later.

And for calipers im getting black, if i dont like that i will have them done in body blue.

Small update,

Waiting on the calipers and brackets to show up. Ordered then about 2 weeks ago.

And im looking for 2 spare tires off a newer GTO, so i have wheels to put on the front to roll the truck around intill the bonspeeds get here.

The rear is going to be getting a Torque Arm set up, I need to start cleaning up the 4 gen rear end i have here.

Sweet. Didn't know you were working on this thing...

In post #2, you mentioned "SPC" - what is that?

Are you looking at the tall lower ball joints?

And it sounds like you and I have similar "goals" for our trucks. I'm looking forward to following in your footsteps!!

I have been working on it when i get a few mins,

I will be doing the SC&C upper arms and tall ball joints, But they aint cheap, but it all pays off in the long run(when you drive it hard)

My goals are kinda small, if i had hugh goals i would build a complete chassis.

I got the GTO Spare,

Mocked up the front brackets with the spindles and calipers, and they fit great, and look sweet.

I thought about going to the C6 Z51 brakes, but i cant fit the GTO spare over them.

I havent really got my time to work on the project, i have been busy working on customers cars and projects.

I think i have finally decided on a rear suspension set up. I have a spare frame that im going to mock it up and see if its really what i want.

Tall balljoint pressed in.

My brother asked me if he could do something to my rotors, i said sure why not. Well he dimpled them. He did a good job, they look so much better then a simple rotor.

Im in a made hunt for a 8.5" out of a S-10 but i just can find a bare housing.

I would also do a 10 bolt out of a 70-up camaro or chevelle. I would love to do a 12 bolt, but those housing go for big money.

Bad94

I got the calipers blasted and painted and 1 together.

are you opposed to ford parts on a chevy? My 8.8 w/ 4.10's, disk brakes, posi, 31 spline axles, 3.25" OD axle tubes, and 30,000 miles cost me $175 at a junkyard...and ford explorers are dime a dozen, unlike S10 8.5's. Even if you find one, it costs you an arm and a leg.

The Ford rears are certainly a great deal. My only word of cation is to really watch it when you are first working the bugs out of your truck. The Exxplorers used calipers that have a pretty big piston area. This worked well on an SUV with a lot of weight in the back especially when loaded. When the same rear and brakes are used in a pickup with low rear weight bias this can cause premature rear brake lock up which can result in an instant spin. So just be aware that you may have to dial out a lot of rear brake pressure and that may not even be enough.

Andrew

This summer will be leafs and bars,

Then i will make a G bar set up.

Bad94

Well i finally got some free time and a space in the shop, and pulled my truck in and put the front suspension stuff on.

I kinda ran into a problem, all of the brake lines need to be replaced. And with the motor in the truck its going to make it a pain in the butt, so im just going to start buying all the motor/tranny parts i need and pull the motor and tranny out and work on cleaning the frame up and doing all new brake and fuel lines.

Im also going to do a 12 bolt now, and make a G bar rear set up, remove the stock gas tank and run a fuel cell under the bed behind the axle. And for the rear wheels im ordering i have to mini tub the rear 2". Oh well, got to do what you got to do.

Wheels i have choose the Rushforth Livewire's with gunmetal spokes 18x8 5"BS and 18x10 4.5" BS w/305/45/18
