very nice Jay. a GT40 is a cool car. Very good stable mate to the Viper.

It is a 2006 Ford GT :look: And I plan on modifying it :drive2: You can never have enough speed :headbang:

I want to update members about why my project has been going so sloooow. It's because of two things going on in my life right now.

1st - I am in the process of purchasing a 2006 Ford GT (Tungsten) and have been busy over the past months putting together a deal. I will be modifying this car and creating a new project thread here on Pro-Touring.

Here is a teaser pic of what the car looks like.

2nd - My wife just gave birth to a bouncing baby girl! I now have two beautiful girls!

Congrats on the baby! Whats her(s) name? And congrats on the GT, love that color; want to paint my Nova the same. Any update on the engine?

Wow You've been a busy guy Jay. First of congrats on the new addition to the family you have two beautiful baby girls. Second great choice on color for the GT looks amazing. Third you're going to modify that as well? More power too you can't wait to follow that project thread.

My oldest is Cassandra and the newest member is Samantha. My two little angels.

The color is called Tungsten.

Probably in early fall I will be sending the engine out to be built. My plan is to install a custom set of cylinder heads and custom intake manifold. In about five weeks I will be meeting with a guy who has a set of wicked cylinder heads for me. Once I get my hands on them, they will be sent to Greg Good Cylinder Heads in Texas for modification.

Thanks for the warm words.

Happy to hear that you like the color. Me too. :smoke: The mods I have initially chosen are very tame. Rims will be tweaked, custom set of door hinges, custom set of valve covers, Accufab throttle body, engine bay lighting...just to name a few.

I will not rip the Ford GT apart like I did the Viper. The Ford GT is very well built to begin with. Plus I need something fun to drive while the Viper is being put back together.

Congrats to you and your Wife on Samantha. Two little girls, you are going to be busy later in life Jay (hmm come to think of it, with the Viper, the GT, Cassandra and now Samantha, you are already busy)! They'll also love you for you car choices too :D

GT looks good too.

so, um, what's going on with the Viper?

Still working on the Viper but at a much slooower pace. I'm gonna have to start burning the candle at both ends (sorta speak) :candle:

My next step is to start the stereo installation. I have designed a custom sub woofer enclosure that fits in the rear of the Viper. I will take many pictures of the fabrication as I go along.

Thanks for staying tuned with my build :6gears:

Hey Jay!

You're one hell of a lucky guy! Two beautiful little girls and two insane supercars! What more can a guy ask for? ...okay, three supercars but anyway.:rotfl: Seriously, best of luck to you and your new family.

We'll be awaitin' for updates on both of your rides! :yum:

Thanks for the compliments! :bananna2: I always wanted two girls and my dream came true. I'll have them wrenchin' in the shop with me soon. They will know more about fast cars than any guys they may encounter.

Hmmmm, a third supercar hey? :hmm: I like that idea!

hey congrats on the baby Jay. No reason to worry about the cars. You've got a wife and baby to care for too. We're patient. Sort of... :)

Just found this thread. I LOVE Vipers, my ultimate dream car (aside from the Mclaren F1). Let alone the Hennessey Vipers.

There is a company just minutes from my house called SVSi (Super Viper Systems inc). Not sure if you have heard of them, but if not look them up!

None of the pictures work for me, think you could possibly e-mail them?

MY APOLOGIES

It appears that my picture links (website coding) from Cardomain have changed over the course of my build. So the pics have the Big 'X' :help!:

My future posts should be okay as long as Cardomain does not change something.

Here is a link to my build on Cardomain for all the pics that are no longer viewable on this thread http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2842608

Sorry to bring back this thread, but I LOVE Vipers

Well it has been a long time since I have posted any progress on my build. Even though I haven't been turning a wrench I am still planning the build and purchasing parts.

Here is the latest:

no stereo system - I have decided that this car is going to be way too loud to listen to a stereo...so there is no point in installing one. Plus it's bascially a race car...and race cars don't have stereo systems.

new rims - After installing the Forgeline rims onto my Viper I decided that the center spoke color was to dark and didn't work with the blue. I just purchased a set of 2008 SRT 5 spoke rims and will be slightly modifying them for my car.

OEM insturment gauges - I sent my OEM Viper gauges to Auto Instruments to have them install a custom gauge face. Last week they informed me that the OEM gauge needles cannot be removed from the gauge face. So the OEM gauges cannot have a custom gauge face installed.

custom instrument gauges - My plan is to purchase a set of custom instrument gauges from Speedhut that will be customized to my specifications.

suspension - I will be purchasing a set of Aldan adjustable shocks
brakes - still trying to determine which rotor will work best with Dave's Big Brake kit. Looks like the best option is Stoptech.

transmission - I will be purchasing a 2008 Tremec 6060 transmission for a 2008 Viper. These transmissions are much stronger than a T56 and can be modified to install in a Gen. II Viper.

Stay tuned for progress!

I'm not an expert but I very rarely see Aldan shocks on serious performance cars. Their reputation at least to me is more of an appearance street rod type shock. I know some people have had success with them drag racing. I don't see them used at all in drag racing.

I don't want to disparage them I don't know that much about them, I'm just suggesting you do your research. In fact I have never seen a serious road race car that uses these shocks. And I"ve seen a lot of cars setup for road racing and autox over the years.

My car isn't exactly a race car its better classified as an HPDE toy car, but I kept the stereo in it so I have something to listen to while waiting in the grid.

Thanks for the info on the Aldan shocks. I know a bunch of guys have used them for the street Vipers and have had success. I don't think they would be acceptable for road racing. Either way I will do more research.

This sentence should have been:

I know some people have had success with them drag racing. I don't see them used at all in ROAD racing.

Good luck !

Refer to my computer renderings of the gauges that I posted some time ago. That's what I am aiming for.

Last time I checked, the pics weren't working, but I will look at your Cardomain site.

Update:
Found the computer renderings, those are sharp. Nice touch with the Viper logo (Sneaky Pete?) on there

Sorry to hear about the hard time Jay. I know how that goes believe me. I hope that everything will get straightened out and that with time you can come back and finish building the Viper up the way you want it. Take care of yourself.
