Hello all, I will start with what I have is a 71 Cutlass conv. all drive train is stock 350/350 10 bolt with freeway gears. I found a 200r4 from what the seller says is out of a 87 Monte ss with a HO350 comes with converter, how can i tell for sure that this is from a Monte? Will this work with my 350 without a adapter plate? What about the drive shaft and cross member? and the lock up can i use the converter from the Monte? Any info will be great.

Thanks Jeff

If the trans has the dual bolt pattern, BOP/Chevy, it will bolt up to your motor. The driveshaft should fit if you have a short tail trans now. The crossmember should be able to be moved enough to fit, if not a custom one or a turbo 400 one can be modified to fit. The converter will work as long as your flexplate has the mounting holes for it. The rear gears you have if they are already low are realy going to be low in overdrive. Acceleration should be a little better with another gear though.

Get the code off the trans tag, near the output tailshaft on the passenger side. Then crossreference the code here, http://members.aol.com/powerrslid/thm2004r.html
