I have very limited clearence under my car, and am trying to figure out what to do. Motor is a BBC with very large cam and very high compression. Mostly drag car, but will occansionaly drive on the street, cruizes, etc.

Just need to get it quiet enough to drive on the street some.

Should I go with,

3 disk

Headers are 2 1/8" with 3.5" collector, Ed Quays, with slip fit.

I've tried the car chemistry inserts as well as the dynatech cones and neither quieted the exhaust one bit, they just changed the tone. I've also tried collector mufflers similar to the Dynomax units and they did help some (maybe a 20% reduction in sound), but it was still WAY too loud to drive on the street. Plus the collector mufflers leak badly around the collector joints, especially of you have any pipe down stream causing back pressure.

The only way I was able to quiet down my 572 was with a full exhaust system (3" x-pipe dynomax system exiting directly behind the rear wheels). I even tried 4" flowthrough mufflers after the collector with 4" turn-downs, but it rattled my teeth and alerted every cop in three counties.

Personally I would try the dynomax.

It does not have to be quiet.

Our 55 has 2 3" spin tech pro street mufflers with turn downs, it is loud but driveable. I am looking for the same for this car.

Ever tried pointing the turndowns towards each other? I remember reading this somewhere, it said that they 'cancel eash other out' and quietens it somewhat.
