I have a set of Boze Hi Octane wheels that I must run a 5/16 spacer on the front.

The spacer that Boze sent me is a generic aluminum spacer (the kind you see at any parts store...drilled to fit anything). The spacer has a ton of movement on the hub, so it is nearly impossible for me to have it centered when I tighten the wheel.

Here are my questions...

1) How much effect does the spacer not being centered have on wheel balance?

2) Does any one make a hub centric wheel spacer as small as 5/16"?

I remember seeing 'propper" machined wheel spacers recently-- jegs sells Baer spacers. I can't recall the other place I saw them, but if it hits, me, I'll post again.

I found that Skulte and a couple of other companies will make them as small as 5/16" . I was really curious to see how much impact being off center so close to the center point of rotation would have on wheel balance.

You should be able to position the spacer as you snug it up. Just finger tighten the lug nuts and then push the spacer so that it's centered.

I like to use a couple daubs of seam sealer. Its sticky enough to hold it but not thick enough to cause a mounting or balance problem.
