What do I need to run the 700R4 in my 68 Camaro with a Gen 1 SBC.
I have the shifter and cable, it shifts, but what do I need as far a kickdown and bracketry.
Edelbrock on an Edelbrock RPM manifold. I have the kickdown cable, but I need a speedo cable. Trans is out of a 1987 Firebird, so I was told.
Thanks!

There is only one cable or kickdown which is the TVS cable. Don't drive the vehicle at all without that hooked up or goodbye transmission.
Other than that you should get a lock up kit or piece one together to at least get lock up in 4th gear for reduced heat and improved milleage. Some claim that if you don't lock the converter in 4th you will burn up the tranny. I never ran mine w/o a lockup.

If you are running a carb call Bowtie Overdrives and order the TV Made easy kit. This thing will make setting the TV a cake walk. Compared to the trouble I have had in countless 700 swaps, this is by far the easiest kit to use, EVER.

Was under the car, and it had the TV cable, just need to get it hooked to the carb.

With an efficient non-lockup converter you will not "burn up the transmission" contrary to popular belief.

There are a few different ones out there but I know from experience that some of them don’t work and others have 9 pages of instructions. I am running one of Bowlers on my 1972 suburban with a 700r4 and a small block. http://www.bowlertransmissions.com/ (http://www.bowlertransmissions.com/) The bracket is a quality piece. Bowler’s bracket kit comes with everything that you need including a cable. It installs in just a few minutes. Then all you have to do is floorboard the car once and it’s adjusted. No gauges no dropping the pan ect.
